The Smurflings and Sassette stories were not finished and published by Peyo until years after the cartoon episodes were written. The episodes were likely discussed about by the crew + him and written in 1984 or so, when Season 5 would've started production. From what I've gathered, he helped create the Smurflings designs and probably helped with those two episodes idea-wise and such, but the 'original comic' did not exist and if it did in some form, it would've been practically non-existent at the time, given he didn't publish the Smurflings story in Spirou until Jan 1988 (then the completed album in March of that year).

What I'm saying is, his comic origin for them seems to be based on the cartoon episodes, not the other way around. Is there something big I'm missing since I'm not exactly an expert on the comics, or are the mentions of it on these pages just errors?
