"Brainy Gets Ghosted!" is the twenty-seventh episode of Season 2 of the CGI TV series, The Smurfs.

Synopsis[]
When Brainy's controlling nature gets under the Smurfs' skin, Painter and Chef come up with the ultimate prank.
Summary[]
Papa Smurf is busy preparing for a potion that makes people transport to another location when Brainy zooms in and gives Papa Smurf several accessories and a drink. He informs him that Painter and Chef are preparing for the ceremony tonight, and Brainy worries that if everything isn't done perfectly, his ancestor (who cannot be named) will potentially be disappointed. Brainy calls Painter and Chef "unreliable" unless he doesn't inspect their work. Papa Smurf shoves Brainy out of the lab and orders him not to be too bossy. He scoffs at the idea.
Later, Painter is annoyed with Brainy, who keeps criticizing the smallest mistakes for the portrait of the ancestor. It turns out several canvases were wasted for the amount of pictures Painter created beforehand. Just then, garbage Smurfs grab the other portraits and throw them in the garbage. Brainy berates Painter for his mistakes, as the ceremony needs to be good tonight or else it will upset Papa Smurf and his ancestor (that will not be named) that will appear every night to haunt him. Brainy attempts to help Painter, but Papa Smurf's ancestor's face is disfigured. Brainy leaves and orders Painter to clean everything up, causing Painter to throw his paintbrush and art kit at the door.
Soon after, Brainy goes to Chef's kitchen and eats several of the cakes on the table. This angers Chef until Brainy informs him that he's taste testing everything for the ceremony. He tells Chef that Papa Smurf and his ancestor love blueberries. Chef tells Brainy that he is going to kick him out of the kitchen, but Brainy doesn't listen and takes his souffle, causing it to deflate and Brainy recommends making a new souffle for tomorrow. This enrages Chef and when Brainy leaves, he throws a large cake on the door.
Papa Smurf mixes his potion with various bubbles, creating a combination. He throws it to see if it works, and seemingly, Painter and Chef appear, leaving Papa Smurf frustrated at every Smurf coming in without knocking. The two Smurfs voice their complaints about Brainy's bossiness, with Brainy claiming they don't respect them. Papa Smurf ends up confronting Brainy, but his use of "offering" has Painter and Chef realize that Brainy lied in saying that Papa Smurf told him to supervise everything. The arguments end up angering Papa Smurf, who uses the full name of his ancestor and orders all three out of the lab.
Brainy is scared now, as since Papa Smurf used his ancestor's name, he will be haunted forever. Painter tells him there's no such things as ghosts, but Brainy attempts to convince them otherwise results in the two Smurfs laughing at him. Brainy warns them once again before taking off on his smurfway. Just then, Painter and Chef get a wonderful idea.
At sundown, as Papa Smurf leaves the lab, they take an invisible bubble from it. Then, they recruit the Smurf Band and get Tailor involved as well.
At night, Painter and Chef give Tailor and the band the signal to start the show near Brainy's house. Brainy himself is sleeping in his bed until he hears his glasses stolen. Brainy tries to find his glasses but is treated to the "ghost" of Papa Papa Smurf (whose voice is being controlled by Chef), who yells at him for bossing his friends around and saying his full name. Brainy is terrified and tells the "ghost" that Painter and Chef can do whatever they want. Just then, Dimwitty asks Rocky if he wants to go fishing, but Rocky declines, saying that they're pranking Brainy. Brainy is still terrified and vows not to say Papa Papa Smurf's name for the rest of his lifetime. As a send-off, the "ghost" orders him to do 25 jumping jacks and count to 800 before going back to sleep. Brainy begins these tasks until his glasses hit him and the other Smurfs take off.
Dimwitty comes back, asking if the other Smurfs have gone and if they managed to scare him. Brainy learns about this trick and decides to fight fire with fire.
In the morning, Dimwitty walks around the village while in Chef's kitchen, Painter and Chef mock Brainy's actions and words, happy that he will finally give them peace and quiet. Just then, Dimwitty comes by and tells them that Brainy was running into the forest. This worries Painter and Chef, noting this not being in the plan.
The two Smurfs go into Brainy's house, where Brainy has written that he has to leave the village, needing to spend the next 200 years in the cave near the oak tree.
Meanwhile, Dimwitty walks to Papa Smurf's lab as the village leader causes several explosions. Papa Smurf asks Dimwitty if he's seen Brainy anywhere. Dimwitty tells him that he's been taken by Papa Papa Smurf's ghost. This confuses Papa Smurf.
Painter and Chef are out in the forest looking for Brainy in the cave, regretting their actions deeply as they go inside it. The cave is dark and ominous, and just then, they hear fire breathing and loud sounds. The two Smurfs believe it is a dragon and are scared for their life. After a minute of scares, Brainy shows up with broken glasses and introduces the lizard that helped him. While Brainy lectures Painter and Chef, he notices what appears to be the real ghost of Papa Papa Smurf. Though Painter and Chef don't realize at first, they see that the ghost is real. The three Smurfs are then berated (Brainy for bossing friends around and Painter and Chef pulling a prank on Brainy), and Papa Papa Smurf orders them back to the village. The three Smurfs scurry out of the cave.
Papa Papa Smurf is revealed to be just Papa Smurf, who laughs at the idea of his little Smurfs believing in ghosts. Unfortunately, Papa Smurf failed to tell them that he has no potion for the ceremony, but what is the actually real ghost of Papa Papa Smurf is heard saying he'll think of something, causing Papa Smurf to run away!

- This is the second episode of the series to have Brainy's name in the title. The first is "Doctor Brainy & Mister Dumb".
- Painter's voice is notably deeper in this episode.
- This is the first episode that focuses on Chef in which Greedy does not appear in.
- Painter's portrait of Smurfette washing dishes that was last seen in "The Stolen Portrait" appears in his house.
- Papa Smurf had previously turned invisible in "Where's Papa Smurf?".
- This episode, along with "Gargamel Goes Gaga", are the first episodes in which Grouchy does not appear in both segments.
- Oddly enough, despite the episode being very prank-themed, Jokey is not seen, heard, or mentioned throughout the episode. However, it should be also noted that the Smurfs in general are portrayed to be mischievous - as the series is an offshoot of the comic books.
- The pan of the village in the beginning repeats footage from "You're Fired!".
- The three Smurfs that operated the garbage smurfmobile in "Papa Times Two" briefly return.
- This episode marks the only appearance of Tailor Smurf in Season 2.
