"Chef Soup" is the twenty-first episode of Season 1 of the 2021 CGI TV series, The Smurfs.

Synopsis[]
Brainy criticizes Chef's carrot muffins, making him to leave and go to cook for the ogres. In the village, the other Smurfs are trying to replace him.
Summary[]
One day in the Smurf village, the Smurfs are waiting for Chef to come with the lunch. Chef shows up with a tray full of carrot muffins in his hand and leaves it on the table. Smurfs starts happily eating another smurfy lunch, while Chef notices Brainy is looking at the muffin and writing his opinions. He tastes the muffin, but he doesn't look satisfied with it. Chef comes to him, asking him about the muffins, but Brainy just write something again. Chef takes his notes and read them, realizing that Brainy gives him a bad opinion of them and just 2 of 5 Smurf stars. Chef is upset, but he quickly smiles again when seeing Greedy satisfied. Brainy comments that Greedy likes all types of food and Chef feels bad again. Chef asks the others what they think, and he hears Grouchy saying "Me, I don't like carrots.", so he packs everything to his truck and drives away. Papa Smurf arrives, unsuccessfully trying to make Chef stay, and the cook drives away in anger. When Papa Smurf starts arguing with Brainy over who will cook now, they make Greedy start crying.
In the forest, Chef is also crying while sadly eating his own food. He throws something to the birds, and they look happy with his given food, being relieved that at least someone likes his food. Suddenly, he hears loud noise coming from Bigmouth and Egghead as they are looking for food. Chef is happy to cook for them, but the ogres want something really big. This worries Chef, but he still agrees, and they head off to Bigmouth's house.
Meanwhile, the Smurfs are still left without a cook as Hefty asks who will become the new chef. Papa Smurf replies that they have started searching for one. Throughout the scene, we switch from Chef cooking for the ogres to many candidates for other cooks, such as Greedy, who eats the food, Dimwitty, who serves pebbles, and Painter, who just serves a painting. The last cook is Brainy, who serves "molecular gastronomy", which are food cubes for the mind. Papa Smurf tries one, but his mouth ends up on fire and runs into the well. Brainy comments that he put too much chili in it. In Bigmouth's house, the ogres are still waiting for Chef's cooking as he is more worried that they will start eating him. Back in the village again, the Smurfs are so hungry that Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy (through force), and Greedy go into the forest to find Chef.
In Bigmouth's house again, the four find Chef as he is finished his latest dishes for the ogres. When they eat it all, they demand more, but Chef says those are all the ingredients that he has. Bigmouth doesn't want to hear that and dumps Chef in a sandwich, which he is about to eat until Brainy yells that it's his fault as Bigmouth is about to eat him. Greedy hits him with a stick as Brainy and Chef hide. As the ogres try to find them, Papa Smurf and Smurfette jump inside Bigmouth and Egghead's shirts, respectively. The ogres scratch until they hit each other's heads and fall. The five Smurfs try to escape, but Bigmouth captures them and puts them in a pot.
While the Smurfs are in the pot, Smurfette comes up with an idea to get out: she ropes the others into pretending that Brainy is the best cook, so the ogres force Brainy to make his molecular gastronomy, which, like Papa Smurf's, sets the ogres' mouths on fire. While the Smurfs watch this, Papa Smurf puts in three magic purple balls, which make a liquid. He gives it to the ogres so they could cool their mouths down and they end up hiccupping and floating in the air.
Back in Smurf village, the news and reviews on Chef's brand-new dish are in, and they turn out to be pretty positive. Papa Smurf reads Brainy's news, which comments on how he started the entire problem in the first place. Greedy replies with "0 of 5 Smurf stars" to which everyone laughs.
Trivia[]
- In one scene, three Smurfs (one being Clumsy) are chanting "We want food!". The scene in particular is reused footage from "Leaf It Alone".
- The pan of the village towards the end of the episode reuses footage from "Kitchen Klutz".
- The newspaper the Smurfs read has a picture of Supersmurf, who was Scaredy's superhero persona in "My Smurf The Hero".
- This episode is similar to the episode of the 1980s series "Greedy Goes On Strike" when Greedy stops cooking for others.
- The German title translates to "Smurf Soup" which was the title for the original comic of the same name.
