Synopsis[]
Farmer uses Willow's carnivorous plant to keep the insects away from his crop, but he soon loses control of it.
Plot[]
Farmer is tending to his crops when he notices a pesky caterpillar eating one of his pumpkins. He complains to an arriving Smurfette and Greedy that this is the second time this week, so Smurfette advises him to head to Smurfwillow, as she is an expert in herbology. Farmer goes to the Smurf Girls' village and encounters Smurfbegonia, who is trying to walk backwards. She offers to help him find a solution to his problem. Inside Willow's lab, Farmer encounters a small, cute Gulp-like plant named Yippy and decides he can help. Begonia offers him some vitamins to keep Yippy healthy, unaware that they are marked off-limits for him.
An event is organized by Reporter Smurf, in which a crowd of Smurfs gather to see Yippy at work, as Farmer cheers him on. When Yippy approaches the caterpillar, however, it scares him off with a mighty roar as the other Smurfs laugh at him and Farmer. After the crowd disperses, Smurfette suggests that Yippy may be too small to take on the bugs, so Farmer feeds him a vitamin for the jar Begonia gave him. To his surprise, Yippy grows much more bigger than he was until he's the size of a Smurf. Farmer then puts him through intense training until he is ready, ans sure enough, the next time the caterpillar returns, Yippy successfully scares him off. Meanwhile, Willow returns and finds Yippy missing, whereupon she learns to her horror about the vitamins Begonia gave Farmer.
Meanwhile, trouble ensues in the village as Vanity, Hefty, Painter and Brainy find their stuff eaten by Yippy and immediately round on Farmer for the damage. Papa Smurf luckily arrives and backs Farmer up when the latter offers to replace their stuff, before ordering Farmer to hide his plant. Farmer is mad at Yippy for causing the mess and, as he hides him in the shed, punishes him by taking away his treat privileges. Yippy sadly roams the shed until he finds the jar of vitamins and downs them all, causing him to grow the size of a Smurf's home and start rampaging around the village as Farmer vainly tries to stop him.
As he causes panic in the village, Yippy happens upon Chef baking a cake and eats it before burping him straight into a barrel as his hat falls off. Farmer arrives amid the chaos and discovers Chef's hat, assuming the worst as Brainy arrives to angrily complain about the pandemonium. Farmer rushes to find Yippy, who hops towards him at a rapid pace. Convinced he is going to be eaten, Farmer flees before tripping on a rock and falling to the ground. Yippy soon looms over him and, as Farmer sadly accepts his fate, begins sniffing him down for sugar instead. Chef, who had found his hat earlier, catches up and reveals his survival, before Willow arrives to shrink Yippy back to normal and explain that "he" is actually a girl. Farmer apologizes for taking her without permission and, as compensation, Willow gives him a potion to handle the bugs at his crop. Later, Farmer bids Yippy goodbye before Willow takes her home, but complains that the bugs are still seemingly attacking his garden. An amused Willow then points to his real problem: a hungry Greedy, who has eaten another pumpkin and whom Farmer angrily chases away as the episode ends.
