Characters[]

Synopsis[]

After an accident, Clumsy believes that the only place where he could not be clumsy is the sky, so he asks Handy to teach him how to fly a plane. To make sure nothing happens to Clumsy, Handy installs a remote control in the plane. When it breaks, the plane spins out of control.

Summary[]

It is a normal day in Smurf Village where Chef is warned by a Smurf that Clumsy is coming with a fishing rod. Chef, as well as Greedy and Grouchy take cover and run away (Hefty doesn't even respond, worried). Meanwhile, as Jokey presents a gift to a Smurf, but Clumsy's rod latches itself onto the wrap, leading Jokey to run after it. It bounces onto a mushroom and falls into Papa Smurf's lab, exploding one of his potions.

Later, Clumsy and Papa Smurf are outside of the lab, with Clumsy trying to apologize and wants to clean it up. Papa Smurf simply tells him to go someplace where he will not cause trouble. He slams the door, causing Clumsy to fall on the ground. Suddenly, he sees a bird and inspires him. He gets up and runs into Handy's workshop (and exploding Papa Smurf's potion once more).

PLEEEEASE

PLEEEASE?

While Handy is in the workshop, Clumsy tries to persuade him to fly a plane. Handy believes he is joking, but Clumsy is insistent on flying and starts daydreaming, until Handy informs him about landings. Handy says no to this, saying he's not taking care of fixing every bone in his body and as he leaves the workshop, Clumsy dreams of the beauty of flying, trips over a rock and falls into the village well. Handy still says no.

Soon, Clumsy begins showing up every step Handy take (which ends in him getting kicked away or Handy running away). Handy imagines the various Clumsys in his mind saying "Please?". Handy tries to hide from the stalking Clumsy, but he shows up with the fire brigade truck and imagines flying, but the ladder he was standing on shrinks, he falls on the pedal, causing it to drive away, and crashes. Handy slaps his forehead in annoyance.

In Papa Smurf's lab, Handy is talking to Papa Smurf about Clumsy to stop such a bad idea. It gets as worse as Clumsy being in the shelf of his books and Papa Smurf shoves him out of his lab. In his box, Papa Smurf finds a gadget for the plane and tells him to install it in it so that Clumsy can think he's flying, when in reality, Handy will be controlling the plane.

With Drummer's drum, he alerts the village that Clumsy is going to fly Handy's airplane in ten minutes. The Smurfs are confused about this idea, with Farmer suggesting they call the doctor.

In the forest, Clumsy presents himself to the Smurfs and starts walking up to the plane. The Smurfs share their comments as Handy is finished installing the control. Clumsy begins dancing in front of various Smurfs before tripping. Again, the Smurfs wonder why Handy agrees to this (as Smurfette looks at them in anger). As Clumsy gets up on the plane, he struggles to balance and falls off again. He successfully gets up this time and waves bye to everyone. Handy starts the engine, and Clumsy is successfully driving.

Jokey is afraid of what happens after the landing, but Handy reveals he is controlling everything from the ground, Jokey takes a closer look as Clumsy continues driving the plane, with Clumsy enjoying the view and "no more smurftastrophes". Jokey is bored and wants Handy to make him do some spins, but Handy is already nervous, so Jokey begins fighting with Handy. Throughout the squabble, Clumsy enjoys various stunts, but one of these stunts causes the control to fall from the plane have fallen to the ground, broken. Without this, Clumsy is now flying out of control and Handy sees he's headed straight for the village, with the Smurfs panicking.

Clumsy flies up, seeing a group of storks, with a stork about to crash until Handy takes him and tells him to fly straight to the plane. Handy tries to tell Clumsy the plane is out of control, but Clumsy mishears until Handy yells he's going to crash. He is about to crash land towards Smurf Village. Handy jumps onto the plane and goes through various obstacles, one of which almost hitting a house. Papa Smurf and some other Smurfs try to get them, but the plane is too fast, and a Smurf flies away.

Flying Ace

Out of the village, Clumsy and Handy drive near a bear, with that bear almost falling off a cliff. Next, they fly into Gargamel's hovel (as Clumsy is endlessly screaming), where Gargamel tells Azrael to get the plane, only to realize they don't have a plane. Then, they fly near Bigmouth, causing the ogre to fall, confused.

Handy tells Clumsy to pull him up, but this fails and Clumsy is now on the back of the plane. They are now on the ground, but not stopping and on a log, it is Handy who is running from Clumsy in the plane. He trips and he worries about his potential end until the plane finally stops. The Smurfs are happy and Clumsy calls himself a flying ace. Handy and Papa Smurf laugh.

Days later, Papa Smurf comes to Handy and hears that Clumsy is still taking flying lessons. Handy says he is, but he has a new mentor: the birds.

Trivia[]

  • Handy's plane looks the same as in "Smurf Your Seat Belts!", even though it's not the same plane because his first plane is destroyed in the mentioned episode.
  • Throughout the episode, Clumsy calls himself the "flying Smurf". There was a Flying Smurf in the comics, but it is unknown if he will appear in this series.
  • The scene where all the Smurfs are summoned repeats footage of "Smurfy Secrets" and "Smurf Your Seat Belts!".
  • Repeated footage from "Who's Heftier?" is used when the Smurfs comment on Drummer's announcement. This particular use of repeated footage is quite noticeable, as the mouth movements do not match up with what the Smurfs are saying.
  • The explosion in Papa Smurf's lab is reused from "Knight Smurfalot".
  • Gargamel, Azrael, and Bigmouth appear, but they are not villains in the episode.
  • This is one of the few times Clumsy is seen with the fire brigade truck without Dimwitty.
  • This episode and "Lab Assistant" have a much lower number of viewers, at 0.16.[1]
