|First Appearance||The Flying Smurf comic book story (1963)|
Flying Smurf (Fr. Le Schtroumpf volant) is a character who only appears in the Smurfs comic books. He has a sole passion in life: flying.
When Brainy Smurf and the Smurf who would become Flying Smurf went to seek for nuts in the forest (asked by Papa Smurf), he found the advantages the birds have: reaching apples from the trees, avoid abysses, flying above the clouds during rainy days, and avoid dangers like Azrael. He tried several ways to fly in the air (stealing the other Smurfs' stuff in the process): sticking feathers on his arms, using a hot air balloon, even eating a yeast mixture. His only successful attempt was making himself so light that he floated in the air. But he was unable to come back down, so the other Smurfs had to lasso him down to the ground. Once secured they made him eat bricks to keep him from flying away.
In the Smurfs' Village game, Flying Smurf can be purchased with 30 smurfberries in the mainland. When Flying Smurf is purchased, his items are for sale.
Flying Smurf appears in two forms:
- On specific Flying Smurf stages he appears with his feathered wings and will flap and gain altitude with a tap.
- He is also unlockable, to be played on all other stages, by finding him in a Golden chest and then paying 70,000 coins. This version of Flying Smurf wears red and white kite-like wings that give him a medium glide ability.
Flying Smurf has a cameo in the 2017 film. He is seen flying in the opening scene and during the credits he is shown in a picture of him getting stuck in a chimney.
- Flying Smurf is referred to as "Fly Smurf" in the game, The Smurfs & Co.
