Plot Summary[]
On a beautiful sunny day, Smurfette thanks Handy for helping her in the choirs of her garden, while the latter carries the tools for the job. Suddenly, Vanity, Painter, and Clumsy notice some giant flowers in front of Smurfette's house and the blue lady exclaims in amazement "I planted those flowers just this morning". Still amazed, they don't notice that Jokey is hidden behind a barrel holding a hose with a pump, and after saying "That's how I wanted to grab them", pumps water and it spills from the flowers, showering the poor Smurfs near to them. Realizing that they fell on one of Jokey's pranks, the Smurfs scold him, and he defends himself, pointing that why they can't support a little joke (additionally he gives them some towels that resulted in them being inked). Brainy unintentionally goes to defend Jokey's argument, only to fall for another one of his pranks after opening his book and receiving a spring snake's attack and shouting to Jokey that he will regret this.
Meanwhile at Gargamel's castle, the evil wizard has a hard time with only a tiny miserable bean for lunch, when a mouse swiftly takes it and flees right to his hole with Azrael unable to catch him. Gargamel shouts in his anger how he hates the Smurfs and resolves that this will be the day he will find the Smurf Village and catch the Smurfs once and for all. Back at the village, Papa Smurf and Grandpa Smurf reply that they have big trouble, because a planetary alignment that will happen that same night will temporarily lift down the protection spell over the village, making it vulnerable and able for unscrupulous humans like Gargamel to find it easily. Just when a bunch of Smurfs including Hefty, Grouchy, and Brainy are ready to present a complaint and a petition to stop Jokey's prank wave, Papa replies that Jokey's matter will have to wait as the spell lift is a more serious issue.
After the explanation, Papa suggests that some Smurfs will spy on Gargamel in order to see if he's trying to search for the village, and suddenly Brainy offers himself to do the detective job (wearing his Sherlock Holmes attire from "The Masked Pie Smurfer"), pointing his research on investigation, but facing another of Jokey's pranks that glued his book. Beginning with his quest, Gargamel goes to a waterfall and finds a message in a bottle, that results in being a map that will lead him straight to the Smurf Village. Brainy and Clumsy are perplexed at how that map existed, and Jokey, who unexpectedly joins the duo, confesses that he drew up the map in order to put Gargamel out of the way. After escaping from a Fire Hydra, cliff jumping a ravine with a catapult, and sailing on a raft left on the beach, Gargamel and Azrael try in vain to find the village, only to realize after a shark appeared nearly and figuring that they were at sea and not a lake, that the map was fake, and they will find the village with their own instincts.
Back at the village, everybody was preparing barricades when Jokey, Brainy, and Clumsy return and inform that Gargamel is sailing straight to China, so they're safe. Oblivious to the fault on Jokey's daring prank, they stop putting the barricades and begin the preparations for a celebrating dinner. However, when night arises, the planetary alignment happens and the protection spell is lifted, exposing the village with an intense shining light that even Gargamel notices, helping him in finding the village (however, at the end of the story, Gargamel once more will forget the location as in other times he briefly succeeded in his quest).
Having found the Smurfs, Gargamel begins to chase them and put them in a sack. Realizing how he endangered his fellow Smurfs by pretending to outsmart Gargamel, Jokey swiftly flees to his house and dares the wizard to catch him. Gargamel tears off the roof and discovers a giant Jokey's surprise gift box, and when he opens it, the box explodes, sending the wizard and his cat straight into the air. The Smurfs escape from the sack and celebrate that Gargamel is launched away from the village, just in time when the planetary alignment ends, and the protection spell returns. Gargamel and Azrael land on the top of a tree, only to fall from it seconds later.
After the peril was over, Handy lifts with the crane a new roof for Jokey's house, while Papa scolds the practical prankster on daring to fool Gargamel when the village was in trouble and signing that no jokes must be played in cases when the village can fall into peril. Brainy states that Papa's words must be respected as he declares in his book. But when opening it, the book explodes as Jokey put an explosive in it to be activated right when the object was opened. And while Jokey leaves with a laugh, Brainy angrily shouts at him as the episode ends "I’ll get you for this Jokey, if it is the last thing I'll smurf".
Trivia[]
- Though Grandpa appears in this episode, Scruple does not, despite Gargamel and Azrael appearing in this episode. This episode could possibly take place before Scruple's arrival.
