Gargamel's castle (also called Gargamel's hovel or Gargamel's house) is the center location of Gargamel's activities. It is a rundown house made of stone and thatching where the evil sorcerer, his cat, his apprentice, and his vulture reside, where his niece, his nephew, (and sometimes his niece’s pet plant and his niece’s doll) hang out & spend time with him whenever his mother drops them off during the weekends, and where Gargamel develops his plans and formulas that he uses against the Smurfs. It is generally located on the outer edge of the Smurf Forest, it’s next to a murky muck pond is which was used at one time in "The Incredible Shrinking Wizard" as the dumping grounds for Gargamel's failed formulas. In the comic books, the muck pond doesn't appear.
Biography[]
In the 2011 Smurfs movie and the animated features The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol and The Smurfs: The Legend Of Smurfy Hollow, Gargamel's castle appears near the edge of a cliff. In Smurfs: The Lost Village, the castle sits on an island of rock with a rope-and-wood bridge suspended between that and a ledge.
The castle contains a laboratory, a kitchen, a bedchamber, a library, and a basement in which the Great Book Of Spells is located.
In the 2021 Series, episodes such as "Smurfy Secrets" revealed that Gargamel's castle is on the edge of a cliff, similar to the live-action movies. It has a green murky lake that’s located under the bridge, resembling the murky muck pond from the 1981 Series. It also contains a room where Rowena and Dwayne (Gulp and Lucretia on some occasions) reside in whenever they’d hangout & spend time with him on the weekends (much to his annoyance).
