Synopsis[]

Hefty is challenged by Storm, but accidentally switches bodies with Baby Smurf.

Summary[]

It is a normal day in Smurf Village. A Smurf is happily going fishing, but his quietness is abruptly stopped by Storm, who makes him drop his fishing rod. Storm cartwheels to Hefty, ready to participate in their contest. Unfortunately, Hefty is stuck watching Baby Smurf for the day. Storm believes that he is just scared of losing, which makes Hefty rush up to her and prove her wrong. He walks off, telling her to give him two minutes. Hefty brings Baby to Papa Smurf, who is in his laboratory to make something for Grouchy. Hefty nervously asks him to leave Baby in his lab, which annoys him, saying that this happiness potion for Grouchy is much more important. He also points out that it is Hefty's turn to take care of Baby for the day - as Baby is messing with several chemicals in the lab. He pours two into each other, which bothers Hefty and he tries to stop him. Suddenly, a giant explosion occurs outside.

Hefty wakes up and observes the atmosphere. He then feels he has strange clothes. The actual Hefty, meanwhile, is biting his toes and moving his arms in the air. It turns out that Baby and Hefty have switched bodies. The Baby Hefty tries to get up but falls in the process. He gets worried if Papa Smurf figures out about this mess. The village leader walks back into his lab only to find the Hefty Baby race off. Baby Hefty attempts to get him back, but almost falls off the table. He is saved by Papa Smurf, who notices that the potion for Grouchy has broken. He decides to give the Baby Hefty a milk bottle. Meanwhile, the Hefty Baby crawls around the village; nearby Smurfs stare at the insanity of this. Hefty Baby sees his reflection and then a butterfly as he crawls after it. Farmer sees this with a couple of other Smurfs and states that Hefty had one too many sarsaparilla.

In the lab, Papa Smurf gives Baby Hefty the milk, only for him to spit it back at him. Upon him saying "disgusting!" Papa Smurf thinks he is trying to talk and attempts to teach him. The Baby Hefty says "goo goo" in a manly like voice, which makes Papa Smurf think the baby needs a diaper change. The Baby Hefty tries to escape and kicks Papa Smurf in several places, which makes his happy potion break and he sniffs it. Papa Smurf then ends up going bonkers and dances all over the place. The Baby Hefty tries to escape and the crazy Papa Smurf realizes he is indeed trying to leave. He lets him out while he decides to clean his lab up. The Baby Hefty successfully leaves.

Baby Hefty questions how Baby himself can handle crawling around like this. Just then, Clumsy greets "Baby" and wants him to come with him to Diaper Daddy's. Baby Hefty tries to escape, but Clumsy thinks this is Baby trying to take his first steps. He grabs Baby Hefty, which forces him to distract Clumsy by making him hit a pole and crashes offscreen. Baby Hefty finds this quite the humiliating.

Meanwhile, Storm prepares for the race with Hefty. The Hefty Baby arrives on the scene. He babbles, which makes Storm think he's mocking her. The two start the race - and Storm is ultimately beaten by "Hefty" because he is racing on both hands and feet. Storm is impressed that "Hefty" finally won a challenge for once, but this confuses the Hefty Baby. Baby Hefty is still unsuccessful in finding the Hefty Baby, and his luck gets worse as Harmony finds him, wanting to show him his latest music.

Meanwhile, Storm and the Hefty Baby continue doing challenges. Storm's challenge is to throw a bucket of large rocks into the air. The Hefty Baby grabs the rocks and spins on them. Upon letting go, it catapults into the air and into the forest - where Gargamel and Azrael are out in, setting dozens of blueberry traps. Gargamel ends up getting hit by the rocks, followed by the blueberry traps. Storm is terrified at this and brushes it off as an interesting technique. Elsewhere, Baby Hefty is being treated to "lovely" music from Harmony. When he starts singing, Baby Hefty unsuccessfully tries to escape, even as numerous Smurfs pass by.

Storm and the Hefty Baby have moved on to the next challenge: archery. The Hefty Baby is having a difficult time understanding how this game works and the bow hits the target. Storm is again shocked at this - even more shocked when the Hefty Baby farts. The Baby Hefty finds Storm and his target and gets a closer look. The final challenge is soccer, with the Hefty Baby as goalie. Storm kicks the ball, which hits the Hefty Baby and he simply laughs. Storm is annoyed that he is "gloating" that he won all the challenges, something that delights the Baby Hefty. All of a sudden, Hefty Baby begins bawling, though Baby Hefty gets an idea.

As Hefty Baby continues crying, he sees the bottle and tries to get it from Baby Hefty. Storm then notices this. As the Hefty Baby stops crying once he drinks his bottle, Baby Hefty realizes that Hefty Baby had pooped in his Smurf pants, much to his disgust. Baby Hefty runs back to get a pants change. Storm sees the Hefty Baby drinking his milk bottle and demands to know what is going on. More weird things happen here, including the Hefty Baby's poop and his burping after he drinks his milk. Storm gets scared of him, finding this unbearable and leaves. The Baby Hefty comes back with new Smurf pants for him. As Baby Hefty cleans Hefty Baby, he plans to get back to Papa Smurf's lab. However, all of a sudden, Hefty Baby won't budge. Baby Hefty gets an idea. Baby Hefty ties a milk bottle to a fishing rod and uses it to make Hefty Baby run faster. Storm runs after the both of them but is unable to keep up.

The happy Papa Smurf continues dusting his lab when he sees the two swapped Smurfs and tells "Baby" that he spent the rest of the day cleaning the house. "Baby" isn't caring about that right now and tries to find potions that will make him switch back. After using a loudly explosive one that Storm hears, Hefty is back to his old self!

As Hefty and Storm meet up with each other, unfortunately, Papa Smurf and Baby have now switched bodies. Hefty saying "not again!" catches the suspicion of Storm, which leads Hefty to come clean and reveal that he and Baby had swapped bodies for the day. Storm is relieved, but then concerned, as she spent the day losing to a Baby. the Papa Smurf Baby informs Hefty that he was too proud of himself but assures him it can be fixed. Hefty and Storm work together and successfully switch Papa Smurf and Baby back together! Papa Smurf congratulates his little Smurfs as Hefty hugs Baby. All of a sudden, Smurfette arrives to challenge both Hefty and Storm. The two both give Baby to Papa Smurf, saying he is too strong for all of them. This time, Papa Smurf complies and the three race off. Papa Smurf simply admires his little Smurfs, which makes Baby grab Papa Smurf's nose as the two laugh.

Trivia[]

  • Hefty had previously became a baby Smurf in "Smurfy Day Care" along with the other Smurfs. Coincidentally, Baby plays a major role in both stories.
  • This is the first episode in the series in which Gargamel does not interact with any Smurfs, though he was planning to.
  • This is the first episode in which Grouchy is mentioned in an episode that does not feature him.
  • When Papa Smurf gets affected by the potion, he moves around the same way he did in "Papa Times Two".
  • Baby Hefty attempts to walk several times in this episode but fails. Baby himself was shown to be capable of standing up in "Say Smurf For The Camera!" and "The Talented Justa Smurf"; this episode either takes place before both of them, or it is a continuity error.
  • The entire scene where Harmony sings to the Baby Hefty is almost identical to the scene where he sings to Dimwitty Junior in "Bringing Up Smurfy". Harmony also sings the same song as in that episode.
  • The scene where Gargamel gets up after setting the blueberry traps reuses footage from "Pop Out!".
  • The shot where Storm kicks the ball to Hefty is reused from "An Unsmurfy Friendship".
