Homnibus is a supporting character who appeared in various episodes of the Smurfs cartoon show until Season 8, usually in the "Johan And Peewit" stories, as well as in the "non-canonical" Smurf story "The Smurfs And The Magic Flute". His first appearance in any visual media is in the Johan and Peewit comic story "The Moonstone".
He is a kindly old wizard and a friend of Papa Smurf's who often visits him in order to play chess or work on issues relating to magic. He even gave his pet dog Puppy (formerly called Homni-One) to the Smurfs as a pet. He also assists Sir Johan and Peewit in their adventures. In "The Smurfs And The Magic Flute", he transported the two humans to the outskirts of the Smurf Village by using "hypno-kinesis".
In the cartoon show, Homnibus is friends with the bickering sorcerer couple Selwyn and Tallulah and was invited along with Papa Smurf to attend their 200th wedding anniversary. He has also adopted a young child whom he named Justin to turn him away from a life of crime that he once had to live as a street urchin. In the comic books, he has a young male servant by the name of Oliver who made occasional appearances.
His character in the cartoon show was voiced by Alan Oppenheimer.
