A clone of Vanity Smurf, simply referred to as Hundredth Smurf, Reverse Smurf, or Double Smurf (original French name Centième Schtroumpf) came about by reanimating Vanity's reflection in a mirror.

Creation[]

While Vanity was polishing a new mirror in the forest in "The Hundredth Smurf", it started raining with thunder and lightning. Then lightning struck the mirror while Vanity was holding it, causing it to disappear in place with his reflection that has come to life, which originally did everything that was the opposite of what Vanity did (at least as far as being a mirror duplicate of Vanity) and even spoke sentences in reverse.

Eventually, the clone became distraught at being unwanted by his "brother" and unable to fit in with the rest of the village returned to the mirror, hoping to reenter it when he goes through the mirror, changing him into a complete twin of Vanity with no mirror-reversed actions or speech.

Appearances[]

The Hundredth Smurf appears in the comic book story "The Hundredth Smurf", as well as the 1981 episode and a corresponding book of the same name (also called "The Reverse Smurf"). He would eventually be featured in the 100 Smurfs Poster, as the final Smurf on the list.

Hundredth possibly appears in "The Gambler Smurfs" as the Smurf who wins Brainy Smurf's glasses in gambling.

It is hinted that this character exists in the film Smurfs: The Lost Village, as in the end credits, Vanity's reflection comes to life and gives him a kiss on the lips.

Trivia[]

  • The Hundredth Smurf is the first magically created Smurf in the franchise. The following Smurfs after him would be Smurfette, Sassette, and Mermaid Smurfette.
  • Though Hundredth Smurf has very little identified appearances, it is very possible that he is one of the many Smurfs in the village crowd scenes, albeit hidden.
