A Hydra is a giant dragon or serpent-like monster with multiple heads that is native to Greece.
In "The Gargoyle Of Quarrel Castle", a Three-Headed Hydra was imprisoned within the Orb Of Hydra by its owners Selwyn and Tallulah, the sorcerer pair. This hydra was accidentally freed when Selwyn and Tallulah's pet gargoyle Tharp was playing Smurfball with the Smurfs and confused the orb with a smurfball. When the orb was kicked, the hydra was released and began attacking them. Luckily it was sealed back in its orb prison by Selwyn and Tallulah.
In "The Smurf Odyssey", a serpentine hydra attacked the Smurfs and Hermes during their epic journey across Greece to find the Golden Fleece. It proved to be very voracious but it ceased its chase when one of its heads broke its teeth after Wild Smurf pulled a victim away from its maw.

- According to Greek mythology, the Hydra was a many-headed giant serpent or dragon-like monster with many heads (most versions depict it initially with twelve), one of which was immortal, which made it virtually impossible to kill. If one head was cut off, two more would grow in its place. It was taken on and finally destroyed by the demi-god hero Herakles (better known by his Roman name Hercules).
