Jokey finds an invisibility cloak and uses it to play jokes on the others. But, a side effect of the cloak makes Jokey invisible, and the Smurfs must travel to the Creepy Deepy Swamp to reverse the spell.
Summary[]
The episode opens on a bright morning in Smurf Village, where the Smurfs busily go about their day. Among them is Jokey Smurf, whose mischievous energy is higher than usual. He’s on the lookout for new inspiration for a prank—and as always, his curiosity leads him where it probably shouldn’t.
While wandering near the edge of the forest, he discovers a small, half-hidden cave. The entrance is cracked open just enough to reveal a faint glimmer from within. Unable to resist, Jokey squeezes inside. The cave is dusty, the air thick, and cobwebs drape from every corner, showing no one has entered in years. But tucked near the back is a mysterious ancient chest, covered in grime and carved with symbols that clearly mark it as magical.
Jokey pries it open, coughing as dust billows out like a cloud. Inside is a gorgeous, shimmering cloak, deep blue with silvery runes that ripple like moonlight. Even before he touches it, Jokey feels that it hums with secret power. Of course, that only makes him more excited. He wraps the cloak around himself and spins dramatically— and vanishes.
Jokey gasps. He looks down: he can’t see his hands, his feet, anything. He’s invisible. The rush of possibility is overwhelming. He imagines the pranks—pranks beyond anything he’s ever pulled.
But Jokey isn’t the only Smurf intrigued by powerful magic. Back in the village, when Jokey reveals what he’s found, the other Smurfs react with awe, caution, and worry. Papa Smurf, ever the wise leader, immediately realizes the cloak is more than a prankster’s toy. He identifies the name woven along its hem: Wizlow, an old magician from long ago.
Worried, Papa Smurf insists they must learn the cloak’s origin and warnings before anyone uses it. So Papa Smurf and Sassette set out on a journey to find Wizlow’s old home—an eerie stone castle deep in the woods.
Inside the castle, they discover books, cobwebs, unfinished spells… and the magician himself. But Wizlow isn’t visible—not at first. His voice echoes through the halls, ancient and weary. Finally he reveals himself… by admitting he cannot. Wizlow, once a powerful wizard, had used the cloak often—until one day it became wet. That small accident triggered a flaw in the spellwork, trapping him in permanent invisibility. He has spent years unseen, unheard, and isolated, unable to reverse the enchantment.
Back in the village, Jokey—despite warnings—gives in to temptation. He sneaks the cloak away and begins using it to play invisible jokes on his friends. He delights as Smurfs jump in surprise, drop tools, shout, or look around wildly trying to figure out “who touched them” or “who just whispered in my ear?” His laugh—unseen—echoes across the village.
But during one overly enthusiastic trick, Jokey accidentally splashes water on the cloak. Immediately, the air crackles around him. He panics, whipping off the cloak— but the damage is already done. His body fades until nothing remains. He is invisible even without wearing it.
Terrified, Jokey rushes to Papa Smurf. The irony hits him hard: the prankster who lives to be noticed cannot be seen at all.
Papa Smurf pores through ancient magic tomes, searching for anything about irreversible invisibility. Eventually, he uncovers the solution: a foul, rare, oozing mixture called mossy swamp slop, found only in the dangerous, murky Creepy Deepy Swamp.
Despite the danger, Papa Smurf refuses to let Jokey suffer Wizlow’s lonely fate. He gathers a small rescue party: Greedy, Brainy, Sassette, Clumsy, and an invisible Jokey. They trek across treacherous terrain, following the map to the swamp.
The Creepy Deepy Swamp is every bit as treacherous as its name. Fog blankets still waters. Strange sounds echo from unseen creatures. The stench of rot hangs in the air. Every step feels like sinking into a quagmire. Despite his invisibility, Jokey feels more exposed than ever—he can be heard, can be bumped into, can become separated at any moment.
Things grow worse when the group encounters the Wartmongers, brutish hunters who patrol the swamp. With nets, clubs, and rough voices, they capture Papa, Greedy, Brainy, Sassette, and Clumsy. Their goal is simple: use the Smurfs as slaves, workers, or possibly ingredients in their grotesque swamp recipes.
Only Jokey—hidden by his unintended invisibility—escapes. He faces a moment of fear. He is Jokey Smurf—pranker, not hero. He has never led a rescue, never infiltrated a fortress. But for once, a prank becomes a weapon for good.
Inside the Wartmonger fortress, Jokey uses every trick he knows: spooky echoes, doors creaking, items floating, breathy whispers, objects flying through the air. The Wartmongers panic, convinced a ghost has invaded their home. They drop food, fall over themselves, flee in terror, and abandon their posts.
Jokey sneaks into the dungeon, unlocks the cages, and frees his friends. But as they attempt to escape, they’re spotted and chased by the terrified yet angry Wartmongers. The Smurfs burst through the large dining room—just as bowls of mossy swamp slop spill everywhere. The Wartmongers scream. Jokey is doused in the mess.
The transformation begins immediately. The magic unwinds. Jokey’s body flickers into view—first his hands, then his face, then the rest of him. He’s visible again. The Smurfs cheer, and Jokey beams with relief.
But Papa Smurf knows they can’t leave Wizlow cursed forever. They gather additional swamp slop, make a return journey to Wizlow’s castle, and perform the counter-spell on him. Slowly, the old magician reappears—shining, blinking, overwhelmed with gratitude after so many lonely years.
Jokey, now more reflective, acknowledges that magic is powerful and unpredictable. As a token of appreciation, Wizlow gives him a joke box - which is exactly like his own, to which Jokey says “sometimes giving us just as funny as getting!”.
