Summary[]

The Third Try (Kitchen Klutz)

In the forest, Chef is picking blueberries for the Blueberry Festival and looks around where Clumsy, who is supposed to be with him, is. On the little hill above Chef, Clumsy throws a blueberry to the air and tries to catch it with his mouth, but he fails and the blueberry bounces to his nose and he falls down along with that berry. Just then, he takes another one to try again and blueberry now lands into his ear. Surprised by the disappearance of it, he takes another one and throw it, but a bird fly above him and takes it. Clumsy runs to catch it, falling down the hill and causing a rock to start rolling toward Chef, who doesn't notice anything, so Clumsy runs to save him. The rock hits him and he flies with it. The rock lands on a bag of blueberries that get smashed, and he lands on Chef, who is very thankful of Clumsy, who saved his life.

In the village, Smurfs are cheering for Clumsy in a circle with the hero inside it. Chef asks Clumsy how he can return his rescuer a favor, when Clumsy comes up with idea that he can become a kitchen assistant. The Smurfs are shocked, including Chef, who does not want Clumsy to destroy his amazing food works. Smurfette convinces Chef to take extremely happy Clumsy who quickly runs to the kitchen and opens the door for Chef. Papa Smurf isn't very happy with that idea and looks worried, and Smurfette asks him what's the worst that can happen, when the kitchen explodes. Chef gives up with Clumsy, but when he sees Smurfette's face, he lets Clumsy have a second chance.

Kitchen Klutz

Chef tells Clumsy that the most important thing is to follow the recipe, and they go to cut carrots, where Clumsy almost cuts his finger. Then, Chef gives carrots into the pot and lets Clumsy to stir the soup. Clumsy tries to spice it a little more, but spices fall from his hand into the pot. He goes to help Chef with blueberries and falls, causing blueberries to fly, but Chef quickly catches them. Clumsy stands up, steps on the rolling pin and falls onto the knifes that fly toward Chef, who saves himself from Clumsy's knife attack and faints.

It's time for lunch and Clumsy is serving the soup to Smurfs, who are finding strange things in their bowls. Then, one Smurf doesn't feel good, and he goes to vomit, and the very next moment, everyone else as well. Papa Smurf watches them waiting in a line for toilet and he goes to tell Chef that something went wrong. He tries to convince Chef to fire Clumsy, when he gets the strange feeling in his stomach and runs out.

Clumsy is sad when he hears that Chef is going to fire him, so he asks Chef why he will do that. When Clumsy asks about the rolling rock that almost killed Chef, Chef gets mad because he didn't know that Clumsy isn't really a hero and he starts chasing Clumsy. Then Clumsy falls and smashes his blueberries, making Chef even more enraged. Chef chases him all over the kitchen and a lot of things fall down on their chase, when Clumsy runs out of his kitchen.

Clumsy's Cake (Kitchen Klutz)

Next day is the party of the Blueberry Festival, on which Chef is cooking a blueberry pie when he finds out that there is no spoon because of Clumsy. Clumsy shows up at the door of his tent with the bag of blueberries to replace the ones he lost a day before. Then Chef steps on a rolling pin and faints, so Clumsy quickly switch their hats so the others won't find out about Chef's accident. Then he starts cooking and hears Papa Smurf who opens the festival with his words. The Smurfs impatiently want the cake, so Clumsy speeds up and comes out with the... cake? He (in Chef's clothes) gives it to Papa Smurf who wants Greedy to taste it first, but Greedy quickly gives a blueberry to his mouth so he has a full mouth now and he can't eat.

Kitchen Klutz (1)

Papa Smurf tastes it and finds out that it's very good, so everyone starts eating when Clumsy goes to cook more, but he causes Chef in a cart to drive away at the last door. He runs behind him when Papa Smurf and Brainy finds out that Clumsy was cooking that, so they and two other Smurfs run after them.

They are running inside the log when Chef wakes up and learns about the situation he is in. He almost falls over a cliff but Clumsy grabs his cart - and now they both are driving down the cliff. They fall into a ravine and the chef hat that Clumsy wears gets stuck on the branch, saving their lives. Papa Smurf and the other three come down and finds Chef and Clumsy with their normal hats again.

Later, Clumsy is walking and falls when Chef takes him to his kitchen and wants him to cook the same cake as in the Blueberry Festival. Clumsy starts telling him the ingredients and opens the oven, making it explode as Chef screams "CLUMSY!".

Trivia[]

Chef Almost Gets Cut (Kitchen Klutz)
  • The episode is similar to the '80s series "One Good Smurf Deserves Another" where a Smurf saves the other's life, but in that episode, Clumsy saves the life of another Smurf (which is Chef), and in the '80s series, Clumsy is saved by another Smurf (which is Handy).
  • This episode implies that there are 100 Smurfs, as Chef says "98 (Smurfs) did" and he and Clumsy are likely the 2 other Smurfs.
  • In the original French dub, an unknown Smurf with a voice similar to Jokey is heard yelling outside the outhouse. In the English dub, his voice is replaced by a generic Smurf.
    • Additionally, Grouchy's voice doesn’t appear in the French dub, but he can be heard in various other dubs.
  • The Smurf who first throws up in the outhouse in the English dub sounds similar to Lazy, though it is unknown if this is Lazy or not.
    • Lazy is, however, heard offscreen at the end of the episode.

Goofs[]

  • Clumsy's dish is referred to as a flan. However, an actual flan has an open-topped pastry case with a savory or sweet filling.
