Synopsis[]
Dreamer wants to become a knight after watching a play. He and Poet start "rescuing" Smurfs all over the village, making some of them angry.
Summary[]
In the evening of Smurf Village, various Smurfs are watching Poet put on a play. They cheer, but nobody is more excited than Dreamer, who says he would love to be a knight like Hefty, who is playing a knight on a horse. Poet narrates a key part in the play... the damsel in distress, who Smurfette plays. She breaks character, however, saying she can save herself, much to Poet's annoyance. He continues narrating as Hefty the knight knew he had to save the lady. When Hefty says, "Smurf and glory!", Dreamer is even more inspired, even throwing the cupcake that Greedy gave him at him. Just then, Dimwitty the dragon comes (though he is a little slower at doing his part) and Hefty attacks him. He slays dragon Dimwitty, who falls on stage. The Smurfs cheer at this as Dreamer imitates Hefty's "Smurf and glory!". Hefty, Smurfette, Poet, and Dimwitty take a bow as all the Smurfs leave, liking the play. Everyone except Dreamer, who tells Brainy the show isn't over for him and says he's going to be a knight. Brainy, Hefty, and Smurfette watch and conclude that this is just "Dreamer being Dreamer".
In the early morning, Hefty, Smurfette, Brainy, and Poet are eating muffins and drinking when they hear Dreamer and observe him in a knight costume. Dreamer tells them he's decided to follow his dreams and become a knight. The four Smurfs go back to doing what they were doing before, but Dreamer goes to Poet and asks for him to be his bard. Poet tells him his poems have been lacking and he would love to be the bard. Just then, they hear Scaredy as he says there's a monster in the kitchen. Dreamer runs inside the door and closes it as the Smurfs hear what is going on. Poet rhymes as he writes the story. It is revealed that the monster is just Baby eating blueberries. Hefty is not impressed while Dreamer and Poet leave, ready for their next adventure. While Smurfette likes the idea of being courageous to follow his dreams, Hefty doesn't see what's so courageous about going around with a bucket on your head.
Later, Dreamer and Poet go around the village as they wake up Lazy and Dreamer asks Handy if he has seen any trouble around the village. Handy denies this and when the two Smurfs leave, Handy swings around loses balance on the ladder he was on. They also take Papa Smurf's bucket of potions as Poet refers to Papa Smurf as "Grandpa". Papa Smurf is bothered by this, and Dreamer tells him he's doing his duty as he puts the potions in his lab. Poet tells Dreamer that knights protect the village from danger. The knight Smurf decides to guard the Smurfs from "harm" but ends up causing harm as he attacks Handy's tools which he thinks is a monster due to the bucket he is wearing cutting off half his vision. Handy is mad at Dreamer, but he simply tells him there's nothing to worry about.
Dreamer causes chaos everywhere he goes; running over Storm and gets flung over by his lance due to the bucket turning, toppling over Farmer's pumpkins, attacking cakes, getting run over by Clumsy and Dimwitty, getting kicked away by a bear, attacking Chef's souffle, and messing with Farmer's tractor and then throwing him into the river. He takes the tractor and crashes with the blueberries and nuts that have been rounded up. Nuts fall near three Smurfs and they run away. One nut falls in Papa Smurf's potion, causing it to explode as Papa Smurf is left with ashes.
The Smurfs yell "Dreamer!" as they are angry at him while he stands on the chaos with the blueberries and nuts. Hefty arrives to demand what's the deal. Dreamer tells him there's nothing to fear since he stopped the "dragon". He and Poet walk away to deal with more trouble. Brainy stops by and wonders what is going on. Hefty explains that "Knight Smurfalot" happened. Brainy goes to deal with this.
Near the snails' pen, Brainy tries to stop Dreamer while saying he needs to end this nonsense. Once again, Dreamer's bucket rotates, and he believes Brainy's smurfway is his horse. He uses his lance to throw him off of it. Brainy tells him being a knight is not about poking people, but Dreamer listens to when he says "fair maiden" and is off to Smurfette's house with Poet. Brainy says he doesn't like knights, while Grouchy says he doesn't like Smurfs stealing his lines.
Near Smurfette's house, she is cutting off thorns and gets cut by one. Dreamer arrives to destroy the thorny bush, but Smurfette stops him and tells him to get the lance out of her face. Dreamer apologizes and compliments her looks while Poet plays the music. Smurfette is quite flattered and gives him a rose. Hefty watches this and is in sheer shock and anger. Dreamer and Poet leave for a new quest. Dreamer has put a smile on Smurfette's face as she closes her door.
Hefty is enraged as Farmer claims he has someone to put him out to pasture. Hefty is jealous of Dreamer since Smurfette was impressed with him. Farmer tells him Dreamer is a knight following his dreams. Hefty says he will be a knight too. He ventures off after Dreamer while Farmer sees this will not end well and knocks on Smurfette's door.
In the forest, Gargamel has set up several blueberry traps so the Smurfs can find them and get stuck in one of them. However, he has set them all up next to him and Azrael. Azrael tries to eat one of them, but Gargamel stops him, saying these are only for the Smurfs. Gargamel holds Azrael so close to his back that he falls into the trap with him. Gargamel and Azrael keep getting hurt by the trap and they end up startling Dreamer, who hears this as a "roar" and believes there is another dragon around. He and Poet go into the forest to stop the "dragon", but suddenly, they see Hefty. Dreamer and Hefty begin fighting over which is the better knight. Just then, Gargamel sets up the traps once more and sees the two Smurfs attacking his butt. He sees them and captures them, but when he is about to go, he and Azrael run away since they get caught in the traps again.
Hefty claims he saved them from Gargamel and tells Poet to write it down because he wants Smurfette to know. Dreamer protests and says he saved them from Gargamel. Just then, they see a snake and Dreamer goes to fight it, but both he and Hefty are caught by the snake. Poet fears while Hefty and Dreamer scream. Suddenly, Smurfette saves them from the snake by using the arts of Smurf-Fu. She boots the snake off to another location.
Smurfette hops away as Poet says the knights in distress were saved by the princess. He and Hefty walk away while Dreamer begins to find a new idol - Smurfette.
Trivia[]
- This episode is one of the very few to reveal Smurfs are bald; when Dreamer's costume turns, he can briefly be seen with no hair.
- This is the first show appearance of Dreamy (who is now named Dreamer - the English translation of his original French name) since "Castaway Smurfs" in Season 7 of the 1981 TV series.
- This is the first episode in which Peter Saisselin wrote without Amy Sefrain.
- In the scene where Brainy tries to stop Dreamer, Farmer's snails do not appear in their pen.
- When Dreamer leaves Handy's ladder, Handy swings around and loses balance the same way he did in "Bringing Up Smurfy".
- Before the snake gets flung away, Poet, Dreamer, and Hefty have similar reactions as Papa Smurf and Smurfette, and Hefty in "Bringing Up Smurfy". Coincidentally, Hefty is included in both scenes.
- Several scenes show repeated footage of previous episodes:
- Most of the footage where Smurfette kicks the snake is repeated from "Smurf-Fu".
- The snake being booted off to another part of the forest is also repeated footage from "Bringing Up Smurfy".
- Storm shooting her bone arrows is repeated from "Smurfy Day Care".
- The footage when Gargamel gets trapped by his own traps with blueberries is repeated from "Pop Out!".
- Most of the footage where Smurfette kicks the snake is repeated from "Smurf-Fu".
- Poet calls Papa Smurf "Grandpa" similar to Grandpa Smurf (who is completely absent in the series at this present time).
