Les Aventures des Schtroumpfs (lit. The Adventures Of The Smurfs) (also known as L'Histoire de Schtroumpf) is an animated feature film based on the Belgian comic book series "The Smurfs". It was the first animated feature film featuring the Smurf characters. The film was released in 1965 in Belgium and featured the voices of popular actors then working for radio. The producers were Eddy Ryssack and TVA Dupuis, which belonged to the publishing company Dupuis.
The film was overshadowed ten years later by the Belvision Studios film The Smurfs And The Magic Flute.
Parts of the film can be seen on display at the Belgian Comic Strip Center.
Plot
The film consisted of a compilation of five black-and-white shorts made in the previous years for the 1961 TV series broadcasting on Walloon TV:
1. Le voleur de Schtroumpfs (The Smurfnapper)
A careless Smurf is caught by the evil wizard Gargamel.
2. L'oeuf et les Schtroumpfs (The Egg And The Smurfs)
The Smurfs discover a magic egg.
3. Les Schtroumpfs noirs (The Black Smurfs)
A contagious disease terrorizes the village.
4. Le Schtroumpf et son dragon (The Smurfs And His Dragon)
The Smurfs befriend a domesticated dragon.
5. Le Schtroumpf volant (The Flying Smurf)
One of the Smurfs attempts to fly like a bird.
Notes
- Though the film was the first animated feature film featuring the Smurf characters, all the stories in the film were already had aired by Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française (RTB) in 1961.
