Chef uses a cauldron from Papa Smurf's lab, which ends up turning alive.
Summary[]
Papa Smurf is in his lab with Brainy as he is mixing ingredients. He is using three drops of spiritive salt to put in a cauldron that looks noticeably worn out. As soon as he puts the third salt piece in the cauldron, it creates a large explosion.
Elsewhere, Chef is cooking in his kitchen with Dimwitty, who misinterprets several of Chef's orders to him. Chef takes the ingredient himself and puts it in the cauldron but realizes his Chili Con Smurfy is no good. As he cries, Dimwitty asks for the blueberry pie and Chef stops him in his steps, saying that this pie is the last thing that is holding his menu together. Chef then asks Dimwitty to give him a clean pot - but it turns out there are none; the one that Dimwitty gives him is a small cup. Chef decides to go get a pot himself. Chef then runs out of his kitchen.
Papa Smurf is still in his lab with Brainy as the two check on the cauldron. Papa Smurf thinks that the cauldron is messing up his experiments. He decides to use a smaller one while Brainy takes the worn-out cauldron to the trash. As he leaves, Chef then runs and finds the cauldron in the trash. He decides to use this one, believing that it has potential.
Chef comes back to his kitchen with Dimwitty as the two prepare to make the chili again. Chef makes all the ingredients and puts them in the cauldron. As he makes them, he wonders what more can be added to his creation. Dimwitty shows and asks him if they can put peppers in it, but Chef declines, saying it is too hot and fiery. While he is not looking, Dimwitty observes and tastes the peppers, and suddenly, he screams, accidentally putting all the peppers in the chili.
Chef, who was looking away when this happened, decides to finish the recipe with basil, replacing sarsaparilla. He then taste tests it, which causes him to scream and turn red. He wonders how it got so spicy, and all of a sudden, the cauldron begins firing up. It bounces across the air and arises! The cauldron, who has now come to life, finds the recipe good, but notices Chef and Dimwitty and not Papa Smurf. It questions why he is in a kitchen instead of Papa Smurf's lab and Chef nervously explains that he found him near Papa Smurf's garbage. The cauldron is appalled by this and runs out of Chef's kitchen. Chef realizes he has created a monster and he and Dimwitty need to find Papa Smurf.
The cauldron wanders around the village, capturing the attention of Smurfette and Hefty, who are too stunned to examine the walking pot. The cauldron continues trying to find Papa Smurf and goes to Grouchy. He asks him where he can find Papa Smurf and Grouchy does not answer this, only saying he doesn't like telling people where to find him. The cauldron counters this by saying he doesn't like grouching Smurfs and decides to turn him into an eggplant. The cauldron realizes his power and finds it stupid.
Chef runs to Papa Smurf's lab (where the cauldron is heading towards) and tells him that he used his cauldron to make chili and accidentally made a magic talking pot. This sends Papa Smurf into a panic and he tells Chef that he should never cook with magic pots. The cauldron then knocks on the door, wanting a word with Papa Smurf now. While Brainy and Chef take cover, Papa Smurf wants to talk it out, though the cauldron is way past talking and wants to overthrow his position as the village leader. Eventually, the cauldron breaks down the door and observes that nobody is there. It wanders around the lab.
Papa Smurf tells his two Smurfs that the cauldron is mixed with old potions, and combined with the cooking, it must have caused the cauldron to come to life. Brainy decides to distract it, much to Papa Smurf's worries. Brainy calls for the cauldron to tell him that Papa Smurf is extremely busy, which the cauldron does not buy and instead turns him into a pumpkin.
Papa Smurf and Chef watch from behind as the cauldron swears revenge on the village leader. The two Smurfs rush off, with Papa Smurf telling Chef they are fighting magic with magic.
The cauldron continues searching for Papa Smurf, turning two other Smurfs into vegetables in the process. Papa Smurf himself then shows up. He has several loaded potions in his straps while Smurfette and Hefty watch from the sidelines. The cauldron angrily wants to know why Papa Smurf threw him out, to which Papa Smurf explains that he was getting old and rusty. However, he wants to make a solution. The cauldron is not having any of this and wants to show everyone what kind of magic he is made of.
The cauldron and Papa Smurf face off. The cauldron shoots off multiple beans to turn him into a vegetable while Papa Smurf fights off all of them. He throws several potions at the cauldron, though he dodges all of them. As soon as Papa Smurf runs out of potions, he panics until Chef throws him a pan. He knocks the beans out of his way and takes off from a jetpack. However, the magic cauldron can also fly in the air - causing Papa Smurf to collapse and get taken into the magic pot! Smurfette and Hefty try to save him, but suddenly, the cauldron traps them too. It also increases in size.
The Smurfs continue running away from the cauldron and continue turning into vegetables from the beans. Chef finds this a disaster while Dimwitty doesn't like the cauldron, annoyed that it only makes vegetables and not blueberries or bananas. This gives Chef an idea. He tells Dimwitty when a sauce is spicy, chefs add sugar to cool it down.
Chef and Dimwitty head to Chef's kitchen again to get the blueberry pie. Chef tells Dimwitty to bring loads and loads of sugary ingredients: sugar itself, along with candy, cherries, popcorn, and honey. Chef finds this to be the perfect recipe.
Back outside, Poet rings the bell to tell the Smurfs to take cover. The gigantic cauldron runs around and continues to turn Smurfs into vegetables. It also turns Clumsy and Dimwitty's fire brigade truck into a large pumpkin that rolls off.
Chef watches the chaos around and wonders how he and Dimwitty get the cauldron's mouth open. Dimwitty gets an idea - he goes to the cauldron itself and hides in a barrel. The cauldron kicks open the barrel, exposing Dimwitty, but instead Dimwitty decides to make him laugh. He then tickles the cauldron, which causes it to open its mouth to laugh. As it is distracted, Chef throws the blueberry candy pie into the cauldron's mouth. It recognizes the flavor and finds it tasty. Just then, the cauldron turns green and spits Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Hefty out. A green explosion then occurs around the village, and every Smurf is turned back into their normal selves.
As the Smurfs look at the now non-sentient cauldron, Papa Smurf congratulates Chef, who states that a chef never disappoints. Chef also gives credit to Dimwitty, which makes the Smurfs cheer.
Later, Papa Smurf decides to retool the cauldron's purpose; it is now a flower holder that he happily talks to.
