A Memory Melon is a magical item created by Homnibus and Papa Smurf for Selwyn to use in the cartoon show episode "Memory Melons". It is simply a melon that has been magically altered with a spell so that it can record and play back messages that were spoken into it, including sound effects such as explosions.

In the episode, the Memory Melon was created so that Selwyn could record an "I love you" message to his wife Tallulah following a marital spat that took place right after their 200th wedding anniversary. However, when Tharp found the Memory Melon and gave it to his master, the melon accidentally recorded Selwyn speaking about getting rid of "that old bag of wind" in reference to a literal bag of wind, and when Tallulah heard the message played back, she assumed that it was talking about her and thus began a long marital spat that caused a powerful storm to brew over the entire Smurf Forest, even to the point of nearly destroying Quarrel Castle, which was at the center of the storm.

Tharp took the Memory Melon away, hoping to get rid of it before it caused more problems, and so stuffed it inside a hole in a tree which turned out to be Chitter's home. Chitter and Wild discovered the melon and what it was able to do, and so Wild delivered it to the Smurf Village, where it wound up in the hands of one Smurf after another when they discovered its ability to record and play back sounds.

After Tharp arrived in the village with Nat and Sassette, Papa Smurf returned with Tharp and some other Smurfs while carrying the melon toward Quarrel Castle, where they saw that the storm caused by the couple's marital spat was at destructive levels. Nat and Tharp carefully flew through the eye of the storm recording snippets of Selwyn speaking to his wife with the Memory Melon, and thus pieced together a single "I love you" message which Selwyn presented to Tallulah after they came to their senses and worked together to dispel the storm they have created. After Selwyn and Tallulah retired in peace to their restored castle, the Memory Melon ended up rolling off a ledge and was smashed open upon landing, thus putting an end to its function as a Memory Melon.
