Summary[]
At Gargamel's hovel, Mummy (who is contacting Gargamel from the crystal ball from "The Smurfs Show") laughs at him for calling himself a sorcerer as he cannot catch a single Smurf. Gargamel protests by saying that he has caught plenty, but they always escape. He says he will create the ultimate spell, but Mummy stops him and says he should start by picking some mandrakes for her slug soup and that he will not disappoint her this time and hangs up. Gargamel becomes grumpy and yells at a mirror. The mirror suddenly opens up and he gets scared that it's his mom, but it turns out to be Azrael. He gets angry at Azrael for scaring him and says he should lock him up in a wardrobe, but this gives him an idea.
In the Smurf Forest, Blossom chases a rabbit, who is running away from her. Just then, she finds a bunch of flowers and looks at them, but then looks up to see a huge cabinet near her. Blossom goes to it and wonders what a wardrobe is doing in the forest. Suddenly, the wardrobe glows and she get caught inside it!
Meanwhile, Brainy and Vanity are out in the forest as Brainy lectures Vanity about mushrooms. Vanity, however, is distracted by various flowers and claims he is the most handsome Smurf in the village. Brainy is angry at him and says he'll wear his mirror out, but he notices the wardrobe and observes it. Blossom hears Brainy and tells him she's locked inside. He jokes about girls always getting themselves in "ridiculous situations", much to Blossom's annoyance. She then tries to tell him not to look into the mirror, but Brainy stops her, saying he's the smartest Smurf (after Papa Smurf of course), but then, he is sucked into the mirror. Then, they hear Vanity, who is looking for Brainy. He finds the mirror and is about to look into it, but the two Smurfs stop him and tell him not to look into the mirror. Vanity tries to open the door, but it is locked. He tries multiple ways to open it with no luck. As everything he tries fails, he pushes them off a cliff and into the bottom of the hill. Vanity says he will get help from the village.
Later, Vanity gets Hefty and Farmer to help carry them back to the village and they arrive at the location. Hefty gets off Farmer's smurfmobile and successfully carries the wardrobe but looks at it as he gloats about how strong he is. He is captured inside it. Vanity comments on how Hefty is "all biceps, no brains".
Meanwhile, Gargamel searches for the wardrobe and comes across Vanity and Farmer on the smurfmobile. Suddenly, Blossom notices Gargamel and Farmer puts the smurfmobile on full speed. Gargamel runs after it but gets too tired to go on and tells Azrael to go on without him. He goes to the shortcut. Azrael continues chasing the Smurfs and Farmer takes Vanity's mirror and hits Azrael with it, breaking the mirror. Vanity is distraught and does not seem to notice Azrael about to get him. Storm arrives and hits Azrael with a bone arrow, causing Azrael to fall and topple over.
Storm tells the two Smurfs that she has been looking for Blossom and concludes she probably got lost in the forest chasing a butterfly. Farmer tells her not to look into the mirror. The three Smurfs find Gargamel and they go the other way. Gargamel grabs the smurfmobile and Farmer goes full throttle, causing Gargamel to lose his grip and ends up falling down a cliff. However, the Smurfs go down a cliff of their own. The three Smurfs end up falling and both Farmer and Storm end up getting sucked into the wardrobe. Vanity does not look into the mirror but ends up falling into the river.
Vanity is now the only one still not in the wardrobe, but he is miserable as his mirror has broken and he can't look at the mirror he's lying on. As the Smurfs notice that Brainy has peed in the wardrobe, Vanity sees Gargamel walking out of his hovel and hides in the river. Gargamel sees that the wardrobe has Smurfs in it and shakes it to be sure. He sees this is great news and goes to tell Mummy.
In the hovel, Gargamel shows Mummy the sounds of screaming Smurfs. Mummy does not seem very impressed, so Gargamel tells her he is going to prove to her that he is a true wizard and shows her the key to opening the wardrobe. Vanity arrives to the hovel and tricks him into thinking that he has a pimple on his nose. Gargamel covers it, but when he realizes it's a trick, he notices Vanity is gone. Mummy informs him that he is behind him, and he turns around. He almost looks at the mirror, so he uses Azrael, and he is sucked into the wardrobe. The wardrobe is now getting more crowded.
Gargamel tries to get Vanity and chases him around himself. He hides in his body and begins laughing. Vanity comes out of Gargamel's sleeve with the key. Gargamel attempts to catch Vanity, but he ends up getting sucked in due to Vanity counter-reflecting the wardrobe from his mirror. With Gargamel in it, it gets even more crowded. Vanity successfully turns the key, exploding the wardrobe and causing everyone to break free. Mummy coughs and sarcastically asks why she is not surprised. She leaves and says, "And you call yourself a wizard?" on the way out. While Gargamel and Azrael are dazed by the explosion, Vanity says to Gargamel that being obsessed with his look is both vain and pointless as everyone laughs. They escape the hovel as the episode ends.
Quotes[]

"Well Smurfs, we're gonna drown."
"Sorry, that was me. I couldn't hold it in any longer."
"Yuck."
The Smurfs' conversation while floating down to Gargamel's hovel.
Trivia[]
- This episode is similar to "Vanity Fare" from Season 1 of the 1980s cartoon show, except that the magic mirror does not transport anyone who looks at it into another dimension.
- This is the first episode not to feature the Smurf Village.
- This is the second episode in the series in which the background Smurfs do not appear. The first is "Pop Out!".
- The title is a reference to the phrase "Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?", a line that was used in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Goofs[]
- When Farmer says, "It's getting kinda cramped in here", his mouth doesn't move. This is because in the original French version, he did not say anything.
