Synopsis[]
Nanny tries to help the Smurfs doing their jobs her own way. The Smurfs aren't very happy due to that, so she runs away.
Plot Summary[]
At night in the village, Papa Smurf and a couple of Smurfs give Nanny a tour of the village for her to settle in. However, Grandpa points out that it's getting cold, so they better cut the tour short. Besides, Nanny's here to stay, so they have plenty of time to show her around. Greedy also says he has to get up early in the morning to make his flapjacks. Nanny simply sees that everything has changed the last time she's been in the village. Grandpa points out that Nanny herself has changed a little too.
In the morning, Smoogle wakes up Greedy as Nanny is cooking the flapjacks. Smoogle takes Greedy to the table and takes the flapjacks to his seat. Greedy thanks Nanny, but the minute he eats it, he feels that the pancakes are hot and runs around the room. Nanny laughs and says there's nothing like her special spicy pancakes. Greedy takes a drink in the well while Tailor asks him if breakfast is still hot on the table. Greedy tells him that Nanny's flapjacks are hotter than Gargamel's stew pot. Tailor accuses him of being jealous of having someone else being able to cook, but Greedy denies it and says that it burns him up that Nanny almost cooked him.
Tailor still believes that Greedy is overcome with jealousy and goes to his shop to sew the Smurfs' mittens for the winter - only to see that Nanny has gotten this job "all sewn up" and says she used her double-knit technique. As she and Smoogle leave, Tailor is grateful for this, but then sees that he needs lots more yarn, as Nanny has used up all of it to make the mittens.
Later, Nanny goes to Smurfette, who asks her if she has seen her beautiful flower garden, but Nanny says she's seen it already... and has moved it to the other side of her house. Smurfette falls out of her house at this idea.
The Smurfs now express their problems with Nanny to Papa Smurf. Smurfette complains about her flower garden and Greedy is still complaining about Nanny's flapjacks. Nanny, elsewhere, is making some pudding, but as Smoogle lets the smoke out, they overhear the Smurfs' complaints about Nanny, claiming that she needs to stop meddling into their business. These comments make her feel unwanted and decides to leave the village. Smoogle comes along with her.
Meanwhile, Gargamel, the evil wizard is out with Azrael and Scruple, explaining to them his latest invention of a rain rocket, which will wash up the Smurfs. One little boom from Gargamel causes it to start raining. Gargamel is excited until the blast of thunder hits him and knocks him into Azrael and Scruple as all three get washed away.
Later, the Smurfs prepare to eat Nanny's "pepper pudding", which upsets Greedy and the other Smurfs, but Papa Smurf wonders where Nanny is. As the other Smurfs assume the worst, Grandpa shows up with a letter from Nanny saying that she's left the village. Papa Smurf says that meddling or not, they need to save Nanny.
Nanny is taking shelter in the forest with Smoogle as she believes that none of the Smurfs need her help anymore. Nanny and Smoogle also begin to miss the Smurfs, as she feels that they've really grown on her.
Meanwhile, the five Smurfs search for Nanny while Papa Smurf wonders what a slope is doing in the middle of the forest. Just then, Grandpa hears mud coming and the five Smurfs are flooded with mud on the slope. Nanny and Smoogle then hear the screaming Smurfs and go to save them.
Gargamel now hears the Smurfs in the flooded mud and are caught into the slope. Gargamel then tells Scruple to fetch him some wood. While Scruple walks into the forest, Nanny and Smoogle are nearby. Scruple shows up with some wood but ends up tripping. One of the pieces of wood catapults Nanny and Smoogle into Gargamel's view. Gargamel picks Nanny up and she tries to get out of his clutches. This does not work and ends up in his mud marinade.
Nanny asks how the Smurfs got into this mess and Papa Smurf says that they were searching for her. Though Nanny is grateful, she knows that she directly got them into this mess and she will get them out. Greedy says she shouldn't blame herself but recommends to her that they should handle Gargamel themselves, something that Smurfette and Tailor agree with. Greedy thinks of the idea to get if they get on each other's shoulders, they could get out. Papa Smurf says it's worth a try. The Smurfs almost successfully get out, but are found by Gargamel, who pushes them back into the marinade.
Nanny asks if she can share her plan, but the Smurfs still dismiss it until Papa Smurf says they could try it Nanny's way, with Grandpa asking what they have got to lose. Gargamel prepares for the main ingredient. He tells Scruple to get the Smurfs, but Nanny asks him that the Smurfs should be cooked clean. Gargamel believes she is right and tells Scruple to get the washing machine in the hovel. Nanny additionally tells Scruple to get Pink Parsley and a dash of Onion Lupe while he is in the hovel. Gargamel additionally agrees to this.
The Smurfs worry that Nanny is helping Gargamel, but Grandpa tells them not to worry and says that Nanny knows exactly what's she's doing. Scruple is more worried about Gargamel taking cooking lessons from his appetizer. Gargamel says it's a shame he will have to eat his helper chef, but as he's about to take her, Nanny gives Gargamel pepper powder to complete Smurf stew. Both Scruple and Gargamel ask Nanny why she is helping them, so Nanny says that if she wants out, she'll go out tasty. Gargamel then puts the pepper powder in the stew, but it ends up exploding, setting fire on the rain rocket, while Scruple sarcastically comments that Gargamel's picnic is a "wash-up". However, Gargamel refuses to give up.
It seems that it's the end of the Smurfs as Nanny is out of ideas. However, Tailor gets the idea to use their mittens to combine them and use them as a rope. They tie them together and successfully get out of the mud marinade, but Gargamel ends up noticing they are missing. Just then, Papa Smurf points out to Gargamel that there's a giant mud ball heading towards him. He, Scruple, and Azrael run away from it, but end up caught inside it as it deteriorates. The three say they all hate Smurfs.
Later, the Smurfs are all safe as Nanny is happy they are safe from Gargamel now. The Smurfs are now on better terms with Nanny as well; Greedy likes Nanny's pepper pudding as long as he uses a couple of powders that will calm the spiciness and Smurfette likes Nanny moving the garden, seeing as it has never made her garden look better. Papa Smurf tells Nanny that they've all got something to learn from each other, while Nanny says "There's nothing wrong with a little change" while pulling Papa Smurf's beard.
