"Never Wake A Sleeping Sorcerer!" is the twenty-ninth episode of Season 2 of the CGI TV series, The Smurfs.

Synopsis[]
When Gargamel sleepwalks into the Smurf Village, the Smurfs make the most of the situation.
Summary[]
It is nightfall as Gargamel is sleeping in his bed. However, he ends up getting out of bed. He walks down the stairs while sleeping, which captures the attention of his cat Azrael as he bangs on the door. Azrael opens it but is too tired to question where he's going. Gargamel continues sleepwalking into the forest and falls into the bottom of a ravine, where he is unharmed and a rock tumble over, causing him to bounce back up and continue to sleepwalk in the forest.
Meanwhile in the Smurf Village, Brainy inspects his fellow Smurfs as he rings a bell, telling them that it's almost approximately 12:00. However, he ends up getting hit with a pillow by a Smurf who tells him they're trying to sleep. Brainy tries to find his glasses that fell off of him, but suddenly, he hears snoring. He puts on his glasses and sees Gargamel in the village!
Brainy warns multiple Smurfs, including Papa Smurf, who is woken up from his sleep. The Smurfs see Gargamel and take cover, hiding in their houses and other objects. Hefty and Smurfette watch Gargamel walking and they try to attack him, but their small sizes cannot wake him up.
Hefty sees it's odd that Gargamel doesn't fight back. The Smurfs observe and believe he's not dangerous anymore and he's running away from them. Papa Smurf stops the Smurfs and takes a closer look. Papa Smurf realizes that Gargamel is a somnambulist, which Brainy clarifies as sleepwalking. Jokey sees this as an opportunity to mess with Gargamel and leads the other Smurfs, only to be halted by Papa Smurf, who says Gargamel could still be dangerous, especially if they wake him up. This upsets his little Smurfs, who wanted to have fun with him. Papa Smurf puts Brainy in charge of watching Gargamel in case he wakes up.
Brainy tries to guide the Smurfs away, only to see he's been abandoned in favor of the mischievous Smurfs, who play around on Gargamel and think Brainy is a spoilsport. The Smurfs also find him helpful, as Chef uses him to crack nuts. The Smurfs then put one of Jokey's gag boxes in his butt flap, which explodes and the Smurfs are sent falling down. Unfortunately, a Smurf is stuck and his pants stay on Gargamel's ears. Gargamel sleepwalks out the village as the Smurfs comment on how fun it was and compliment each other. However, the Smurf that lost his pants ask why they're staring at him as another Smurf gives him a ducky floatie.
Later, Gargamel has gone back to his hovel and wakes up, only to find a piece of a shell in it again. He suspects Azrael has been eating walnuts in his bed again, but Azrael clarifies that he was sleepwalking and went outside. He then finds the Smurf pants on him while he was sleeping and realizes he was in the village at the time. This enrages Gargamel until he also realizes if he sleepwalks into the village again, Azrael has to wake him up.
In the village, the Smurfs discuss the smurf-tacular pranks they pulled on Gargamel last night and it's good that Papa Smurf didn't see them. Just then, Papa Smurf shows up and berates the Smurfs for playing with Gargamel and see Brainy has snitched on them. Papa Smurf orders the Smurfs to be on their best behavior tonight. He walks away to finish his potion while the naked Smurf doesn't understand why he's cold.
At night, Gargamel sleepwalks again, but this time, Azrael is following him.
The Smurfs wait for Gargamel, but as he arrives, Azrael is also here! The Smurfs hide and panic. Azrael tries to wake Gargamel up, but he is sleeping too deep to wake up. Papa Smurf opens up and is treated to Azrael trying to wake up his master. He orders Smurfette and Hefty to stop Azrael while he fixes his potion.
Smurfette and Hefty stop several instances of Azrael finding things to wake him up, including cylinders and the Village Bell. However, he begins scratching on a chalkboard, irritating the two Smurfs until Handy distracts him with a cork. He leads Azrael away - until Azrael throws him off his jetpack.
Brainy suggests Smurfette and Hefty to use water, something cats despise. While Papa Smurf is almost ready, Clumsy and Dimwitty arrive on their fire truck, but as Dimwitty is about to spray Gargamel, Smurfette and Hefty warn him to spray it on Azrael. However, Gargamel sleepwalks away while Azrael plays on the trumpet. This delights Naked Smurf, who begins dancing and scatting and the two firefighter Smurfs start singing as well until Hefty tells them to spray Azrael. This fails as they hit Jokey's boxes. Jokey yells at them for this, but Azrael flings the two firefighters away.
Brainy fears the loud sounds may wake up Gargamel. Just then, Smurfette gets an idea for her and Hefty to put ear plug blueberries in Gargamel's ears, which Hefty finds as an amazing idea. They then call for Handy, who picks them up and drops them to put the blueberries in Gargamel's ears. As for Azrael, Jokey lights a couple of firecrackers and ties him to jetpacks, causing fireworks to blow and Azrael is sent flying away.
Papa Smurf finishes tells him that he is his mom and orders him to walk back to his house and never come back to the village again. Gargamel follows this order and sleepwalks out the village. The Smurfs cheer for Papa Smurf, including Naked Smurf, who's ducky floatie falls off. Papa Smurf is disgusted and tells Naked to put on some pants. Naked realizes this is the reason why he was so cold.
Elsewhere, while Azrael continues flying in the air, Gargamel finds himself in Bigmouth's house, where the ogre is ready to pound Gargamel!
Trivia[]
- The plot of Gargamel sleepwalking into the village resembles "Things That Go Smurf In The Night" from Season 5 of the 1980s cartoon show, though unlike that episode, Gargamel does not actually wake up in the village.
- This is the first episode in which Grouchy's house is seen from the inside.
- This episode marks the debut of Naked Smurf in the series. He is incorporated from the comic books.
