- "So what's going on in here?"
- There is also an impostor Smurf that goes by this name.
Nosey (original French name Schtroumpf Curieux) is a minor character of the Smurfs comic books, the 1980s Smurfs cartoon show, and the 2021 Smurfs cartoon show.
Character
Comic Book Universe/2021 TV Series Version
This version of Nosey Smurf is a Smurf who is always curious, always wanting to know everything. He is also shown to display naivety with things that he does not know such as dinosaurs and Puppy, to the point that other Smurfs tell him what these things actually are, such as Paleontologist showing and talking to Nosey about his studies on prehistoric life and Tailor's requesting him to find out about Vanity Smurf's designs.
He appears in the 2021 TV series episode "The Makeover" as Curious Smurf (which is a direct translation of his original French name). In that episode, he noticeably speaks in a slight accent.
1981 TV Series Version
This version of Nosey Smurf is similar to his comic book/2021 TV series version, except this version of Nosey Smurf is seen in a more negative light such as constantly snooping into other Smurfs' businesses and hardly showing no respect towards the privacy of others (even though he means well) to the point of having his own curiosity often cause problems for everybody. This version of Nosey only appeared in the Season 2 episode "The Lost City Of Yore".
He tends to act melodramatic when the Smurfs reprimand him for his nosiness.
Relationship With Others
Comic Book/2021 TV Series Version
Nothing much is known about Nosey's relationship in both the mainline comic books and 2021 TV series continuity, but it is generally known that the other Smurfs see Nosey in a sympathetic and positive light and treat him equally like the rest of the Smurfs such as Paleontologist being willing to show Nosey around on what they are doing recently and correct him about things he does not know, while Tailor sees him useful on finding out about Vanity's designs.
1981 TV Series Version/Smurfs: The Lost Village Version
Unlike his more positive relationship with the other Smurfs in the comic books and 2021 TV series, here in the 1981 TV series continuity, his relationship with the other Smurfs is said to be extremely intolerant at best due to being always nagged at and blamed for everything, although this is to do about his nature of being "nosey" as the main reason of disliking him which is justified in the first half of "The Lost City of Yore" (though not as much in the second half of the episode).
But the thing is, the rest of the Smurfs never given him a chance or at least try to tolerate him. And unlike the rest of the episodes of the 1981 TV series where one of the Smurfs make a mistake just enough to get called out for it but ends with the character learning their lesson and the other Smurfs forgiving that Smurf, none of them have sympathy towards Nosey at all.
Ironically and hypocritically, while the Smurfs keep scolding Nosey for sticking his nose into other Smurfs' businesses in his sole episode for the 1981 TV series, they're also prone to sticking their noses into other's businesses as demonstrated in previous episodes.
In the Movies
Nosey appears as a minor character in the 2017 film Smurfs: The Lost Village. He is first seen in the beginning spying on someone in a tree as he is introduced by Papa Smurf. Then he is passing by Brainy's house and peeks in the exploded window asking what was going on, then Brainy, Clumsy, Hefty, and Smurfette scold him that it was none of his business and then Nosey walks off. The next day he passes Clumsy's house and asks Papa Smurf through an open window what was going on until Papa angrily slams the window in his face then Nosey walks off. At the end of the film, he was seen grieving with the male and female Smurfs for Smurfette's sacrifice until she was brought back to life, and they all celebrate by dancing in the village. Nosey is last seen peeking in Jokey Smurf's present until he is punched in the face by a boxing glove on a spring from the box as Jokey is laughing.
Smurf Video Games
A similar character called Inquisitive Smurf appears in the videogame "The Smurfs Travel The World" as one of two Smurfs, the other being Smurfette, who wind up traveling the world by touching magic crystals in Papa Smurf's laboratory.
The Smurfs' Society
In The Smurfs' Society, Nosey appears as one of the purchasable Smurf NFTs when the player uses an access crystal.
