Synopsis[]
The Smurfs make a new bed for Papa Smurf, but Gargamel enchants it to fly to the place of anyone who is dreaming while sleeping in it.
Plot Summary[]
One night in Smurf Village, Papa Smurf gets ready to go to bed by reading the story, The Wild Adventures Of Sailor Smurf. When he hops into his bed, however, it bends over as it is not good enough to sleep on. Handy, Clumsy, and Brainy hear the loud noise and come to see what happened. Papa Smurf tells them that after 450 years, his bed is broken and he needs a new one.
Meanwhile, Gargamel and Azrael are in the forest as Gargamel asks Azrael if he is ready for a party, to which Azrael replies with confusion. Gargamel tells him that his "smurfsnapper" (party streamer) is able to snap up some Smurfs. He demonstrates by blowing the streamer to grab a stick and he says the Smurfs will be his new refreshments.
In the forest, Handy, Clumsy, Painter, Brainy, a sleeping Lazy, Hefty, and Tailor are creating a new bed for Papa Smurf. Handy remarks how the new bed will last Papa Smurf forever. Brainy adds three large pillows to his bed, asking what kind of bed it will be without pillows. Tailor gives it a blanket quilt, but notices the mattress is lumpy. He takes the blanket off, revealing Lazy, who is sleeping on the bed. Just then, Gargamel and Azrael come and the Smurfs all run off. Gargamel uses the party streamer and the bed hits his mouth, subsequently falling on Azrael. The Smurfs run back to the village as Lazy says the new bed is bouncy, not knowing they are running. Gargamel takes the bed off and comes up with an idea.
Gargamel sees that the bed is for Papa Smurf, so he decides to find something evil he can do with the bed. He plants it on a rock and uses his spell book and stumbles upon one for the bed to get rid of unwelcome guests. The spell ends up working and he and Azrael walk away. Later, the Smurfs see that the bed is "untouched" and they bring it back to the village. Later, Papa Smurf comes into his house as all of the Smurfs yell "surprise". Papa Smurf is indeed surprised by the new bed. Brainy decides to gives a speech, but he is stopped by him. Papa Smurf thanks everyone as they leave his house and he proceeds to get in the bed.
In bed, Papa Smurf reads his book while a storm occurs. Just then, Brainy and Clumsy come with Baby Smurf, saying that Baby is afraid of the dark. Brainy does not want Baby to become a coward while he cowardly fears himself. The three Smurfs are in Papa's bed as Papa Smurf reads Baby the Story of Sailor Smurf, with Brainy and Clumsy listening. He stops the story after Sailor gets captured by Imps, as he falls asleep. The bed magically starts floating in the air. Brainy wakes Papa Smurf up as he notices they are flying outside of the village and later, around the sky. Clumsy sees that they are flying straight to a pirate ship. They crash onto the ship and the pirates there take them to the pirate leader, Captain Cookie. Baby, wondering where they are, goes back to bed. Papa Smurf, Brainy and Clumsy are held prisoner by the pirate leader, who says they are disrupting his dinner. Captain Cookie does not want to hear that and plans to boil them in oil to eat. Brainy panics, but Papa Smurf says he has an idea. He says it looks like a good meal, and gets Brainy and Clumsy to play along. He ends up tempting the pirate crew by saying there plenty for all and they start attacking Captain Cookie. The three quietly leave, but a pirate guard blocks the way. He says to get back, threatening him with a carrot, as he has no sword. Papa Smurf grabs a zucchini and the two begin fighting. Meanwhile, Baby is still in bed dreaming about toys. Papa Smurf battles the guard out of the lair, where Brainy and Clumsy notice that Baby is taking off without them. Papa Smurf and the two other Smurfs hop on the bed and off the ship as the guard wants his zucchini back while chewing on the carrot.
The four Smurfs are on the flying bed again. Since Baby is the one who is asleep, they land in a girl's room as she is sleeping. Baby wakes up happily seeing all of the toys and points to a merry-go-round. Papa, Baby, and Clumsy go on it and have fun, but Brainy stays aside, asking Papa Smurf how he enjoys this. He tells him he must have fun where he finds it. Brainy doesn't listen and still thinks of all the bad they can be experiencing. Just then, the little girl wakes up and picks Brainy up. She pretends he is a doll and Brainy runs off to the bed. The girl cries loudly, so Papa tries to get Baby to dream of something else. He sings a song about the village so he can dream. Baby does not sleep and Brainy worries, saying someone's going to find them. Clumsy says at least they are not being chased by Gargamel and they head off as the mother comes to see the sleeping girl.
In Gargamel's hovel, Gargamel tells Azrael he has never been so happy as he wonders if Papa Smurf went very far last night, as the Smurfs without a leader would be chaos. In the sky, Clumsy is asleep on the bus as Brainy is wondering what he is dreaming about. Papa Smurf notices he's dreaming about Gargamel as they are heading to his hovel. Brainy tries to get Clumsy to wake up, but Papa Smurf says they need him to dream of something else. Papa Smurf tries to get him to dream of the village, but to no avail. Gargamel and Azrael get up on the ceiling, eager to get some Smurfs, but Papa Smurf has a plan. He tries to get him to dream of different things like Greedy's cooking and Smurfette. He then realizes that Clumsy can dream of his rock collection, which turns out to be a success. Gargamel and Azrael butt heads and fall.
In the village, the bed comes fly-crashing into Papa's house. Clumsy says he was dreaming about his rock collection. Papa Smurf tells him he always knows what's on his mind and Clumsy laughs. Brainy then says he's never been so thankful for Clumsy to have rocks in his head as the episode ends.
