Synopsis[]
Gargamel puts a spell on Puppy, making him act like a kitten. Papa Smurf sends a message to Homnibus and when it comes back, the Smurflings understand it wrong and they put a counter spell on Papa.
Plot Summary[]
One day in Smurf Village, Snappy is whistling, calling for Puppy. This fails, so Nat decides to try it and it works. Puppy comes from the bushes and barks. Snappy is angry, saying that Nat and Puppy have practiced this already. Nat says he would be happy to teach him, but Snappy believes he is trying to change the subject. Their conversation is interrupted, however, when Puppy crashes into Snappy, Sassette, and Nat. Slouchy sees them on the ground and asks if he can play with Puppy too.
In Gargamel's hovel, the evil wizard has created a "Peekablue" crystal that he will be able to combine with goggles. He tells Azrael that he won't be able to see anything but blue, not even bushes, trees, or rocks. Azrael tries to touch it, but Gargamel snatches it away from him as it's only for him because the crystal is very delicate. Gargamel walks into another part of his hovel when suddenly, he hears Puppy and Azrael scream, and he almost drops the crystal. Puppy chases the cat into the hovel, where they run around Gargamel. He drops the crystal, and it shatters to pieces. He gets mad at not Azrael, but Puppy. He puts him on his desk and finds a spell that can make him act like a kitten. He uses it on him, and it successfully works. Azrael threatens him if he sticks around, so Puppy runs off, with Azrael hissing. Gargamel goes to make a brand new Peekablue.
Meanwhile in the forest, Farmer and a couple of other Smurfs are harvesting crops for new smurfberries with Papa Smurf and Baby Smurf watching. Hefty says that every Smurf is working hard to make them the best smurfberries. Papa Smurf tells them to hurry it up a bit as the rainy season is on its way. Farmer assures him that it will be done very soon. Papa Smurf and Baby yawn and Hefty suggests they get some rest. As they walk off, they see a field mouse running, followed by Puppy meowing, which they mistake for Azrael. It turns out that this is Puppy as he is acting like a cat. He comes to the conclusion that Puppy is under a spell and takes him to his lab.
While Puppy drinks some of Baby Smurf's milk, Papa Smurf flips through the spell book to revert him back to a normal dog. He finds a spell and uses it on Puppy, but he disappears! Papa Smurf brings him back using another spell. Since the spell book won't find answers, Papa Smurf decides to deliver a letter to Homnibus's house. He writes about how Puppy has been acting strange lately and wants to see if he knows anything about how to change him back. He gives it to a bird to bring it. Puppy hisses at the bird and runs off as the bird flies away as fast as he can.
Papa Smurf hears a knock on the door and sees the Smurflings as they wonder what happened to Puppy, saying he has been gone a long time. Papa Smurf lies and says he's probably off in the forest. Nat asks if they could look for him, but Papa Smurf says they shouldn't go into the forest by themselves. He also says all of the Smurfs are busy with their chores. Sassette asks if he can take them, but Papa Smurf says he needs some rest. The Smurflings understand and leave. Papa Smurf waits for a reply from Homnibus.
The Smurflings are now wanting to look for Puppy, but Nat said that Papa Smurf said to stay put. Snappy does not want to, thinking he can be in danger and wants to leave now. Sassette tells him that they can't just do that as they would be in more trouble than Puppy. She comes up with an idea to drag Papa Smurf along with them in the forest. She asks Slouchy if he's in, but Slouchy is smelling flowers. Meanwhile, Gargamel finds the last of the Peekablue crystal and says he must cut it down to fit his eyes. He and Azrael laugh evilly as Gargamel says he cannot wait to get the Smurfs.
In Papa's lab, the Smurflings see that he is really sleeping as he didn't bother to hear them when they were knocking. Just then, Slouchy receives the letter that Homnibus wrote from the bird. He reads the first part of the message, saying it's for Papa Smurf. When they read the message, however, they come to the conclusion that Papa is sick. As Nat panics and wants to warn the other Smurfs, Snappy says "Prescription means now" meaning they have to help him now. Sassette reads the note that was meant for helping Puppy, not Papa Smurf.
- Prepare to brush while victim is sleeping.

- Bathe him, but only while holding a dogwood branch.
Sassette tells Slouchy to brush Papa Smurf's beard while she, Nat, and Snappy get the other items they need. As Slouchy goes to Papa Smurf, he begins counting how many strands he has on his beard. He starts at one... and continues through 2,007. Sassette and the others bring the items. She and Slouchy subsequently bark in Papa Smurf's ear, waking up both him and Baby, who shows no problem waking up. Nat throws water-like goop on him, which is itchy water. Papa Smurf scratches and falls into the bath that Nat and Snappy got. The Smurfling boys brush him as he questions what they are doing. Snappy tells him that they know about his "illness". Snappy then feels his nose as he notices that it's warm. The Smurflings proceed to get the dogwood branches and Slouchy gives Papa salt and pepper as he sneezes, and his nose becomes a dog's nose. They now notice that this was not the right way to do it and Papa Smurf gets mad at them and he wants to know what is happening, before growling like a dog and covering his mouth.
Papa Smurf, Baby Smurf, and the Smurflings are out in the forest as the latter four are worried about Puppy. Papa Smurf sniffs with his dog nose and is certain Puppy is in the right direction. They hear Puppy as he is meowing. Puppy comes to them, and he purrs and rubs himself to Sassette. Meanwhile, Gargamel splits the Peekablue in half so he can wear it for his goggles. He now puts it on and cannot see anything but blue. He stumbles upon a blue bird, which he frowns upon. He then sees Papa Smurf, Baby Smurf, and the Smurflings in the blue goggles and proceeds to go to them. He then hits a rock and falls.
The Smurflings, Papa Smurf, and Baby Smurf move the dogwood branches as Papa Smurf says the spell out loud. Puppy sneezes twice and Papa Smurf's dog nose disappears. They keep moving the branches as Puppy grows a little bigger. The spell goes out of Puppy, and Gargamel, who is dizzy, catches the spell. Gargamel proceeds to act like a cat and Azrael is very confused. Gargamel and Azrael then fight as Azrael believes he is mimicking him.
Papa Smurf, Baby Smurf, and the Smurflings are going back to the village as Puppy is now back to his old self. The Smurflings apologize for what they did. Papa Smurf says they were just trying to help, and the important thing is that little Smurflings leave prescriptions alone, medical or magical. They agree to this as Nat says they are really dangerous. Slouchy then wonders how many spots Puppy has as he starts counting like he did with Papa Smurf as the episode ends.
