Paramount Pictures Corporation is an American motion picture and television production studio based in Hollywood, California, owned by National Amusements, a subsidiary of Paramount Global (formerly ViacomCBS). The company is the planned distributor for the upcoming 2025 Smurfs musical film, produced with Nickelodeon Movies. Prior to the Smurfs films, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies had secured rights to make an adaptation, set for release in 2008, later to be adapted into a trilogy. Production was cancelled when Sony bought the rights in the same year.
