Plot Summary[]
Whilst riding to his house, a book falls out of the Fable wizard's sack in the middle of the forest.
Meanwhile, back at the village, Grandpa Smurf is reading a book about his adventures to the other Smurfs as Poet is trying to read his poem to another group of Smurfs. Before Poet is able to start, Vanity, Painter, and Harmony, whom Poet's group consisted of, find an excuse to leave Poet and join Grandpa Smurf. Poet gets upset by this and gets the idea of writing a story.
In the forest, Poet sits by a tree, trying to write his story, but the stories he written do not match his taste. Brainy approaches him, telling him that he needs to implement interesting characters and excitement in his story. Poet is offended at Brainy's suggestion and pours ink on Brainy's glasses. He storms off leaving a disappointed Brainy behind. He walks around the forest and trips over the lost book. Meanwhile, the wizard arrives at his house and finds out that his book is missing.
Poet looks through the book and sees that the pages are empty, so he decides to write his own stories. He writes a story about Lazy and how he woke up to his giant pillow. However, Lazy's giant pillow became a reality, but Poet is unbeknownst to it. He writes another story but this time it's about Tailor and how he gained a magic friend to help him with the requests he received from the other Smurfs. Tailor and Painter are shocked to see needles and cloths flying in the air, but Vanity is only satisfied because his tights are done.
Smurfette is watering her flowers, when Brainy approaches her, telling her that her flowers can't speak back to her. Smurfette responds that she wishes they would because she would rather listen to them than Brainy. When Brainy leaves, Smurfette's flowers talk back to her and is given life thanks to Poet.
Back at the forest, Poet is still writing in his storybook and realizes that Brainy was right about adding excitement to his story, so he writes about Lazy's giant pillow becoming a monster, causing Lazy to run in fear. He then writes about Smurfette's flowers and Tailor's friend becoming monsters as well. The Smurfs run in horror to tell Papa Smurf about their belongings became beasts. Papa Smurf reassures them at their must be a reasonable explanation to all the commotion. Just then, Smurfette's flowers come from underground and begin terrorizing the Smurfs.
Poet, still unbeknownst to what's going on, continues to write. He writes himself into the story, which causes him to appear in the Village. Papa Smurf tells him that there are monsters attacking the village. Lazy's Pillow Monster begin to chase Papa Smurf and Poet. Poet watches as the Smurfs are running from their belongings and finally tells Papa Smurf that he must write in his book. Papa Smurf, who is baffled by what he meant, helps Poet retrieve his book. Poet begins to write, and the Smurfs' belongings go back to normal. The Smurfs are happy with Poet saving the day. Later, Poet returns the book to the wizard and tells him about what happened while the book was in his possession.
