Plot Summary[]
One night in the Smurflings' playhouse, the Smurflings are staying up in their beds challenging each other with things that say they can do better. Snappy challenges Sassette by wiggling all his toes at the same time. Nat challenges her by wiggling his nose, while Slouchy challenges her by wiggling his ears. Sassette decides to give them a challenge by saying she can wiggle her tooth. The other Smurflings are amazed and wonder how she's able to do it, and Sassette says that she doesn't know, but that she's been able to do it for a week. As she turns in her bed to prepare going to sleep, however, the tooth she's been wiggling falls out, and Snappy finds it underneath the bunk bed. This makes the other Smurflings so worried that Slouchy says he's never going to wiggle his ears again.
Meanwhile, out in the forest, Gargamel is busy setting up a spider web trap to capture Smurfs with when his apprentice Scruple sees a lizard passing by and chases after it, only to get caught in the web along with Azrael. Gargamel scolds his pupil for ruining his trap, but Scruple says all Gargamel really cares about is Smurfs while he himself should be looking for bat wings and lizard tails for his magic experiments. Gargamel pulls Scruple and Azrael free from the web, saying that there's more to life than just lizard tails -- that there's Smurf tails to catch.
Back in the village, Papa Smurf comforts Sassette by saying that losing a tooth is a time for a Smurfling to celebrate. He tells the young Smurfling to place her tooth under her pillow, and the Tooth Fairy will come by and leave a surprise for her in the morning. Sassette decides to place her tooth under her pillow and says good night to both her tooth and to the Tooth Fairy. As the little Smurfling goes to bed, the Tooth Fairy is out in the forest flying with her list of people she must visit for their teeth when she gets caught in Gargamel's spider web trap, dropping her toothbrush wand on the ground.
By morning, Sassette wakes up and looks under her pillow to see if the Tooth Fairy has visited her, only to find her tooth is still there. She reports this to the rest of the Smurfs, which makes them so concerned that Papa Smurf says they should go out into the forest and try finding the Tooth Fairy. He has Hefty go out with Nat and Snappy as one team while Brainy takes Clumsy and Slouchy with him to Molar Mountain as another team. Sassette offers to come along with them, but Papa Smurf says that she should stay in the village just in case the Tooth Fairy shows up.
Meanwhile, Gargamel sends Scruple to town to buy some herbs for that night's dinner while he goes out into the forest and checks up on his spider web trap to see if he has caught any Smurfs. As he approaches the trap, he hears a female voice crying out for help, and sees that instead of catching a Smurf, his trap had caught a fairy. She calls herself the Tooth Fairy and asks to be set free because she has an appointment in the Smurf Village. Gargamel frees her, but only if she will help him get to the Smurf Village. He sees the magic wand she has dropped and tries to use it to transport himself there, but when he sees that it does nothing, he thinks the Tooth Fairy must have broken it and throws it away.
Gargamel decides to keep her locked in a cage inside his castle while he dresses himself in a disguise to pose as the Tooth Fairy. Scruple sees Gargamel in this disguise and first thinks he has entered the wrong house, but then realizes that his master is in a disguise and decides to make fun of him before Gargamel hits him with a powder puff. He tries to tell his apprentice that there's a "perfectly evil" purpose for his disguise and tells him to watch after his prisoner, but Scruple simply just sees his master head off into the forest with mocking laughter.
Out in the forest, Brainy's team is getting lost on their way to Molar Mountain, as Slouchy points out that they have circled the same tree at least three times. He says that they will never find the Tooth Fairy this way, but soon enough the Tooth Fairy finds them, and Clumsy is amazed at how big she really is. Brainy simply says that any fool could see that this is really the Tooth Fairy, which is what Gargamel in disguise is hoping they will believe. Elsewhere, Papa Smurf's team sees a giant spider web that Nat and his butterfly get caught in, and next to it Hefty finds the Tooth Fairy's toothbrush wand. Nat and Snappy look in wonder at the spider web, wondering what kind of spider could have spun it, and Papa Smurf saying that it wasn't any kind of spider, but rather Gargamel who had spun this web. Soon Clumsy sees the path home for himself, Brainy, and Slouchy to follow, and as they head for the village, Gargamel as the Tooth Fairy follows after them.
In Gargamel's castle, Scruple is busy preparing one of his own experiments, saying that all he needs are some bat wings, a lizard's tail, and a shark's tooth. The Tooth Fairy calls out to Scruple, saying that maybe he can help him if he is willing to help her. Scruple thinks that the Tooth Fairy can really help her, if only that instead of bat wings he could use fairy wings for his experiment. Fortunately, Papa Smurf's team shows up to keep Scruple from using the Tooth Fairy as they sneak in and dump thick blinding powder that causes him and Azrael to sneeze while the Smurfs help the Tooth Fairy escape. At a safe distance from the castle, Papa Smurf hands the fairy her wand back, and Snappy and Hefty are eager for her to visit the Smurf Village so she could take care of Sassette's tooth. The Tooth Fairy warns them that Gargamel has disguised himself as her so that some Smurf will lead him to the village, and the Smurfs in that group realize that the one Smurf who would be stupid enough to fall for that trick is Brainy.
Back in the village, Greedy tries to cheer Sassette up with a special treat he has baked for her, but she seems to have lost any interest in anything besides the Tooth Fairy showing up. And soon enough she does, with every Smurf gathering around her and a few of them noticing how odd she looks. Sassette races up to her and asks if she's got a surprise for her, and the Tooth Fairy responds by saying she's got a surprise for everyone, as she pulls off her wig and reveals herself to be Gargamel. The other Smurfs run for safety while Sassette bravely confronts Gargamel, telling him to leave them alone and that this is all her fault. Gargamel grabs her and says that he's going to eat her first, but then another voice breaks in and commands him to put Sassette down. It is the real Tooth Fairy who has escaped and now has her toothbrush wand which she threatens to use. Gargamel challenges her to use it, and so with the wand, the Tooth Fairy makes Sassette vanish from the evil wizard's hand to reappear safely out of his reach. Gargamel thought that her wand was broken, but the Tooth Fairy reveals that it only works for real Tooth Fairies, and soon Gargamel gets another taste of the wand's power as she makes him spin around before he takes a large flying leap out of the village and into his giant web trap.
With the Smurfs now out of danger, the Tooth Fairy rewards Sassette with a special medal for being a brave little Smurf. The boy Smurflings wonder when they'll get to have a visit from her, and the Tooth Fairy says soon as she waves her wand over their heads before she flies off. While the other Smurfs say goodbye to the Tooth Fairy, the boy Smurflings could now wiggle one of their teeth. Meanwhile, as Gargamel tries to free himself from his own trap, he gets greeted by Scruple's wolf whistle. He orders his apprentice to get him out of the trap, and Scruple says he will, but it's going to cost Gargamel a sack full of bat wings and lizard tails. Gargamel growls and tells Scruple that he's going to pay for this, only for Scruple to say that Gargamel is the one who's going to pay.
