A skunk is a four-footed animal that is black with a white-striped tail. Skunks have glands in their tails that emit and spray a foul odor towards anything that they see is threatening towards them.
In mainstream Smurfs media, skunks mostly appear in the Smurfs cartoon show due to its American production team taking liberties with the creation of animals in the Smurf Forest, which being located in Europe would not likely feature skunks.
In the Smurfs comic books, similar animals such as ferrets and polecats would appear instead.
