The slumber bug is an insect that appeared in the cartoon show episode "Papa's Big Snooze". It hides itself within a shell that resembles a rock as camouflage. Its bite is able to put its victim into a sleep from which he or she can never awaken. The only known cure for a slumber bug bite is the bite of a bonsai beetle before the second sunset, which can only be found in the secret garden of the Palace Of The Rising Sun.
In the episode, Brainy accidentally disturbed the slumber bug when he sat on its shell, which made him leap away in fear. However, he ended up catapulting Papa Smurf right into the slumber bug's path, causing it to bite Papa Smurf and to infect him with a potentially permanent sleep.
