Synopsis[]

When Handy and Storm learn about Gargamel's plan to make Azrael fly, they set out to build their own flying machines to take on the cat in the air.

Summary[]

Gargagame (Smurf Your Seat Belts!)

One day in the forest, Handy is busy cutting off a tree branch, but all of a sudden, a bone arrow hits it causing Handy to lose balance. More bone arrows hit it and he fall to the ground out of fear. Storm gets mad at him for interfering with her training ground. Handy then gets mad at her for using the training ground while he's sawing. He tells her about important things he will have to invent, to which she replies with a chair.

They proceed to start arguing, but they hear Gargamel and Azrael and hear about Gargamel wanting to make Azrael "the first flying pussycat" using an amulet. He begins to control Azrael in the sky against his wishes and he flies around the forest and gets flung to another direction. Gargamel follows after him.

Handy and Storm watch him and two then argue over who they should warn first: Papa Smurf or Willow. Through a game of "rock, paper, Smurf", Handy wins.

The two go to Smurf Village, where Willow is already there. Papa Smurf tells Handy and Storm that they need them to look for a solution while they look the spell. Handy and Storm agree in unison, but unhappily look at each other.

The argumentative duo tries to figure out how to counter Azrael in the sky. After thinking, Handy comes up with the idea of building his own flying machine, which Storm agrees on. He goes into his workshop while she follows him.

Handy begins progress on his flying machine. Storm wonders what she should do, to which Handy replies "Go throw your sticks in the air". Storm believes this as a challenge and challenges Handy to see which one can make a better flying machine.

After a building montage, the two have created flying machines to counter Azrael that both impress the Smurfs. As the two argue over the better machine, Azrael comes in flying around the village under Gargamel's controls as the Smurfs run away. Azrael suddenly flies out of the village. Handy and Storm settle their differences for now and Handy tries to get Storm into his "Handy Jet" but she takes off before he can say anything. Storm says Handy's "running late" angering him. The two then use their machines to go fast, one faster than the other.

Meanwhile, Gargamel searches for Azrael as he is lost in the sky. Handy and Storm catch up with Azrael and try to outwit him and then, each other. Handy sends one rocket out and Azrael dodges it. He sends the other one out, missing again, but Azrael falls and crashes into a tree. Gargamel makes him turn around, telling him to flap his paws. Azrael turns and flips in the air, hitting Handy in the process. Handy is about to crash-land, so Storm grabs his hand, and the Handy Jet has officially been destroyed. As Handy gets into Storm's flying machine, Gargamel uses the controls to knock Azrael onto the machine, causing the two to crash-land like the Handy Jet.

Handy thanks Storm for saving him, to which Storm replies with "I only did what any Smurf would do for a friend". As the two begin to develop a friendship, Storm is captured by Azrael. Handy uses one of Storm's bone arrows, hitting Azrael and he drops her. As Storm is beginning to fall, Handy saves her. She hugs him but notices he didn't take a bath today. They notice Gargamel is still trying to get Azrael to the village, so they come up with an idea.

As Azrael is searching for the village, he stops to discover that the two Smurfs have combined their flying machines. Storm has programmed one of her bone arrows into the machine. It shoots at Azrael, knocking him down and the amulet comes off. The duo laugh as Gargamel fails to catch Azrael. The amulet drops and Gargamel discovers that he can use himself to get to the village... ultimately failing when Handy and Storm go around him super-fast, which causes him to lose concentration and let go of the control. Handy ends the fight with sending Gargamel to a different part of the forest.

Back in the village, the Smurfs cheer for Handy and Storm for defeating Gargamel and Azrael, and Papa Smurf and Willow come back believing that Azrael has not been defeated. Both Handy and Storm say "It's already... taken care of" as they say it in unison again.
