-Smurfblossom
Smurfblossom (original French name Bouton d'Or) is a character who appears in the Smurfs: The Lost Village film and is one of the main characters of the 2021 TV series and the comic books, usually in the Girls' Village Collection.
Character
Blossom is the cheerleader, overflowing with positive energy. She’s incredibly energetic, even exhausting. Blossom gets excited about everything and shows it, bouncing around and talking a mile a minute. She says whatever crosses her mind without thinking first, which can be inappropriate, but also very funny.
Her boundless energy is an asset when everyone else is in a slump. Blossom loves flowers and frilly things. Her choices are generally more colorful than practical - for example, she is capable of bringing party dresses on a camping trip. She's also a random collector. One week she collects snail shells, and then the next she might be taken by bat droppings (causing a lot of her fellow Smurfs to scratch their heads). Blossom is a great friend and adores meeting new people. And though she always has the energy to help out in a fix, her naivete can get her into trouble.
Personality
Smurfblossom is an enthusiastic and joyful hyperactive ball of energy. She never met a Smurf she didn't like. She's the walking, talking definition of "spunky" with her candy-sweet, bubbly personality. Her glass isn't just half full, it's overflowing. She may be a Smurf, but she never feels blue.
She has a habit of talking too much, as shown in "The Pluffs!", "Storm Loses Her Mojo", and "Where's My Smurfway?".
However, despite her cheerfulness, she can reach her breaking point and can get annoyed. This side of her is shown in "No Smurf Out!", where she gets mad at Handy for going crazy in Scaredy's house and almost attacking Brainy. In "Relaxosmurf", she gets annoyed at Timid (who had transformed into an annoying "Confident Smurf") and yells at him.
A more negative trait of her personality is how she often takes various objects and causes trouble with them, such as "Where's My Smurfway?", where she takes Brainy's smurfway and misplaces it, and in "Blossom Goes Wild!", where she is advised not to sit on Lily's waffle truck but does it anyway and almost crash it into the river. The latter episode also shows another negative trait of her's: being stubborn. After the previously mentioned incident that happened, she got into an argument with Storm and Lily. In "Smurf To The Future!", she takes Handy's cuckoo clock that travels back in time in a fit of rage and ends up sending them to the Stone Age.
Blossom is easily prone to getting distracted, which is shown in "Smurf Racers". When partnered up with Hefty in the Pumpkin Race, she gets distracted by pretty flowers. She also gets distracted by flowers in "Where's My Smurfway?", misplacing Brainy's smurfway in the process.
Another negative side of her personality is how she doesn't like taking responsibility for her actions, opting to run away from them instead. Some of her stubborn traits are seen in "Smurf To The Future!". In the episode, Blossom is embarrassed by her mistake of pushing Smurfette into Farmer's tractor of manure and is afraid of apologizing, fearing Smurfette might be mad and decides to hide with Handy. She also does not take responsibility for almost causing Lily's truck to fall into the water in "Blossom Goes Wild!" and gets into a fight with Lily and Storm for it.
Blossom is very impulsive at times, which is shown in her fight with Storm and Lily in "Blossom Goes Wild!" and argues with Lily in "Wild Gets Tamed", claiming that her idea of reasoning with Gargamel's mother is a good plan and Lily is jealous because she didn't think of it. In "The Squash Smurfs" in Smurfs: The Village Behind The Wall, Blossom tries to fight a growler despite being told to hide, which fails due to its size and chases the Smurfs away.
Through her gullibility, Blossom can be quite smart when needed. In "Wild Gets Tamed", she analyzes Gargamel's mother's footsteps, reads a book, and rightly concludes that Wild has been taken by Mummy, in "Smurf Racers", she discovers that Gargamel and Azrael have disguised themselves as Lily and Grouchy, respectively, and in "See Gargamel Run", she and Lily attempt to run Gargamel and Azrael out of the forest with Storm by using various items to counter them.
Due to her admiration of Storm and to some extent, Smurfette, Blossom is often aspiring to be a good archer and fighter. This is shown in episodes such as "Storm Loses Her Mojo" and "Smurfboards", though she often has trouble with it and causes her to be accident-prone. In "Alien Smurf", she possesses a small knowledge of master fighting, threatening Glee-Go when the alien claims that girls aren't allowed around his territory. She also successfully saved Handy from the prehistoric Gmurfs in "Smurf To The Future!" by remembering Smurfette's lesson.
Blossom has a slightly mischievous streak as well. In "Wild Gets Tamed", she, Lily, and Begonia trick Wild into eating an indigestion cake when he steals their muffins. Blossom also helps Storm throw the Smurfs out of their village in "Wanna Bet?" when Smurfette loses her bet with Storm.
Appearance
Smurfblossom has short dark blue hair, and her bangs are divided symmetrically. She wears a sand-colored dress, hat, and flats. Blossom also wears a necklace, a bracelet (both made with small colorful stones), and a pink blossom flower on the right side of her hat.
In the 2021 series, Smurfblossom's design remains the same, except that she wears a pink dress and white flats like the male Smurfs.
In "The Magic Pumpkin" and "Smurf Racers", two Halloween episodes from the 2021 series, Blossom's costume is a face-painted skeleton with black hair. She is additionally wearing a black necklace and a yellow dress (similar to her dress in Smurfs: The Lost Village, but lighter).
History
Smurfs: The Lost Village
Smurfblossom is the second of the Smurfy Grove Smurf Girls to introduce herself to Smurfette, and quickly introduces a number of her fellows in a hyperactive fashion that throws off her new acquaintance. Like her fellow Smurf Girls she is unfamiliar with the concept of a male Smurf but thinks little of it besides determining that "boy" is a funny word and proceeding to impishly do an impression of what she imagines a boy is like. She also thinks that "Papa" in a funny word upon encountering Papa Smurf, but her mirth is short-lived due to Gargamel's attack on Smurfy Grove in which she and her fellows are captured. Fortunately, Smurfette is able to rescue them by her own sacrifice, only to be later revived after both groups of Smurfs gather in Smurf Village to mourn her loss. She then enthusiastically joins in the celebration, dancing and singing along with her fellow Smurfs.
Relationships With Others
Smurfwillow
Like the other Smurf Girls, the two have a mother-daughter relationship. Smurfwillow sent her away from Papa Smurf for fear of him hurting her in Smurfs: The Lost Village. When Smurfette reverts to a lump of clay, Willow is comforting Blossom as she is crying.
Blossom respects Willow and her rules. In "Clumsy Smurf's Dragonfly" of Smurfs: The Village Behind The Wall, Clumsy asks if they can go to the dragonfly nests. Blossom refuses, saying that Willow forbids it. Willow often tries to resolve arguments with Blossom when happening, such as the fight with Lily and Storm in "Blossom Goes Wild!" and tries to find where the argument between Storm and Blossom started in "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom".
Willow is seen talking and sitting with Blossom during the entirety of "Gargamel, Queen Of The Prom".
Smurfstorm
Blossom's best friend, overall, is Storm. Blossom is the only Smurf Girl that consistently calls Storm "Stormy". Storm helps out Blossom whenever she needs it, helping her get Brainy's smurfway back in "Where's My Smurfway?". Blossom returns the favor often, helping her take care of the Smurfs when they become babies in "Smurfy Day Care" and helping run Gargamel and Azrael out of the forest in "See Gargamel Run".
The first instance of their friendship was when Storm was said to be Blossom's best friend in "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom". Their relationship almost ended after Storm accused Blossom of having a crush on Hefty but became friends again by the end of the comic.
Blossom idolizes Storm's strength and aspires to be as strong as her one day. Storm is often seen giving Blossom practice lessons ("Storm Loses Her Mojo") or practicing together ("Alien Smurf" and "Smurfboards").
In "Storm Loses Her Mojo", Blossom uses a spell to take Storm's power, as she idolizes her strength. However, the spell ends up making her the "warrior queen" of the forest. At night, Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Hefty sneak back into the forest, where Blossom captures the three and challenges Storm to an archery competition. Storm ends up winning and gets her "mojo" back while Blossom goes back to being a happy Smurf. The two happily walk away (though Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Hefty are still stuck in the vines that Blossom had set up).
Occasionally, Storm will simply get annoyed at Blossom's constant happiness, as in "Where's My Smurfway?", when Blossom hugs Storm, Storm just sighs. In "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom", Storm gets mad at Blossom for following her into the forest after their fight and discards Storm's warnings of not coming any closer to a thin branch and Storm ends up unconscious, making her believe Blossom did this on purpose.
With Lily, Storm had once gotten into a major fight with Blossom in "Blossom Goes Wild!", as Storm shares Lily's annoyance for tampering with Lily's truck and almost falling into the river.
Smurflily
Blossom and Lily are also best friends. Lily does not get as annoyed with her as Storm usually gets, as Lily is very calm. Lily is often helpful to Blossom, helping her retrieve Brainy's smurfway in "Where's My Smurfway?". The two frequently team up for a common goal, such as driving Gargamel and Azrael out of the forest together in "See Gargamel Run".
In "Poet Slam", Blossom roots for Lily in the poetry contest against Poet and in "Waffles And Punishment", she roots for Lily in the waffle eating contest against Greedy. In "The Great Smurfs Games", they partner up together with Handy for the Great Smurf Games.
Lily tries to reason with Blossom with things that are beyond her control, such as trying to simplify what Blossom is saying to a tired Storm that baby Smurfs are easy to manage in "Smurfy Day Care" and persuades Blossom to realize that the newly found crow is causing havoc in Smurfy Grove in "The Crow In Smurfy Grove".
However, they had once gotten into a fight with each other in "Blossom Goes Wild!" when Blossom sits on Lily's truck, causing the breaks to break off of the truck and almost fell into the river (with both her and Blossom in it) even though Storm had advised her not to.
Smurfette
When Smurfblossom had contact with Smurfette, she was very friendly and wanted to soon form a friendship with her and managed. When Smurfette sacrifices herself to save her friends, Blossom is the Smurf Girl that is most distraught. During the end of the movie where Smurfette comes back to life, she claims Smurfette is her new best friend.
Blossom and Smurfette have often teamed up for the same goal before, in episodes such as "Unsmurfable Smile" where they try to make Grouchy smile by taking him camping.
Blossom loves to help Smurfette with any of her problems. In "Alien Smurf", Blossom helps Smurfette save the other Smurfs from the alien Glee-Go. Smurfette returns the favor, offering to stall Brainy while she, Storm, and Lily try to get Brainy's smurfway in "Where's My Smurfway?".
Smurfette is one of the people Blossom idolizes to be one day: a skilled fighter. Smurfette often gives her practice lessons, as shown in "Smurf To The Future!". While being trained for Smurf-Fu, Blossom is embarrassed by her mistake of pushing Smurfette into Farmer's tractor of manure and is afraid of apologizing, fearing Smurfette might be mad. However, at the end of the episode, she apologizes and Smurfette doesn't have any hate for her.
Brainy Smurf
She and Brainy are seen together several times, with one of the most notable times being "The Pluffs!", where they are transported to an alternate universe, and they attempt to get out together and in "A New Beginning" where Brainy and Blossom are sent to look for silk ingredients by Willow. Blossom is also the first Smurf Girl that offers Brainy to walk with her and the other girls in "Brainy Smurf's Walk" in Smurfs: The Village Behind The Wall and is the most open to asking him questions about himself and his village.
In "Where's My Smurfway?", Brainy lets Blossom take his smurfway, as in his mind, Papa Smurf would believe that he would want her to drive it. Blossom is happy that she can drive the smurfway and kisses him in happiness. Later, Blossom, Storm, and Lily fix the smurfway when it is destroyed and Brainy kisses Blossom as a thank-you for fixing it.
Though they are good friends, Brainy is sometimes annoyed by her excessively long talking, despite the fact that he does the exact same thing. Blossom, likewise, shows annoyance when Brainy claims girls are always getting into trouble in "Mirror, Mirror On The Armoire" and fears if Brainy will read the encyclopedia to her if he finds out she misplaced his smurfway in "Where's My Smurfway?". Though Blossom suggests that they save Brainy from quicksand in "A New Beginning", she asks it in a lack of enthusiasm. However, her most hostile moment with him was in "The Land Of The Smurfing Stones" in which she gets into an argument with him after he mistakes a river for a source of the Smurfing Stones.
Some of the Smurf Girls seem to be mildly aware at the tension between the two; while Blossom and Brainy argue in the aforementioned comic, Storm and Mint look at each other while smirking.
Unlike with Smurfette, Storm, or any of the other girls, Brainy seems to display a more protective nature towards Blossom. Though he is still his usual cowardly self when facing danger, he surprisingly does show a braver side of himself and seems to prioritize her safety, as seen in "The Pluffs!" and "The Land Of The Smurfing Stones" and claims that she is with one of the bravest Smurfs in "A New Beginning". Blossom returns the favor often, guiding him around the Pluff Village in "The Pluffs!" and defends prehistoric Brainy from a laughing Handy in "Smurf To The Future!".
Blossom is the only Smurf that Brainy seems to trust that is able to use the smurfway, as he lets her ride it in "Relaxosmurf" in exchange for a blueberry pie.
Blossom in turn cares about Brainy and his happiness. In "Smurf To The Future!", Blossom immediately recognizes prehistoric Brainy (who does not have glasses yet) and in "A Smurfy Christmas", Blossom is the first to notice Brainy's unhappiness on Christmas morning due to his lack of a gift and goes with Storm and Jokey to get Brainy's gift (a book) back.
Handy Smurf
Handy is another Smurf seen with Blossom from time to time. In "Smurf To The Future!", she goes to him to ask him to create a time machine to go back to when she accidentally pushed Smurfette into Farmer's manure. However, arguments between the two causes them to be sent back to prehistoric times.
Despite the occasional arguments, Blossom still cares about Handy, saving him from the prehistoric Gmurfs in "Smurf To The Future!" and is initially in distraught when Handy is taken away. Handy partners up with Blossom and Lily for the Great Smurf Games in "The Great Smurfs Games".
In spite of his reluctance, Handy lets her go on his mission to get his jetpack back from Dwayne in "The Dream Team" and over the course of the mission, he warms up to her, smiling when she saves herself from Dwayne.
During "Smurf To The Future!" and "No Smurf Out!", Handy found Blossom's over-enthusiasm to be annoying, often getting into verbal fights with her.
Papa Smurf
Upon first meeting each other in Smurfs: The Lost Village, Blossom is one of the more friendly Smurf Girls to see Papa Smurf after informing the hostile girls that he is not Gargamel. She believes that "Papa" is a funny name.
Papa Smurf thinks of Blossom as a free ball of spirit and is cheerful, as shown in "Storm Loses Her Mojo" where he, Storm, Smurfette, and Hefty go into the forest to rescue Storm's warrior spirit, which has been taken by Blossom. He trusts Blossom to an extent, telling her and Storm to teach the Smurfs proper manners in "Manners Matter".
Like Willow, Papa Smurf tries to settle arguments between the Smurf Girls, attempting but failing to solve the argument between Blossom and Storm and Lily in "Blossom Goes Wild!". After this, Blossom briefly moves in with Papa Smurf, much to the latter's dismay.
In "Smurf To The Future!", Blossom holds a baby Papa Smurf when she and Handy go back in time to "Smurfy Day Care". When she and Handy are sent to prehistoric times, Papa Gmurf finds Blossom's disgusting stench to be lovely. Blossom later tries to reason with Papa Gmurf over Handy's sacrifice to a bunny beast to no avail.
Hefty Smurf
In "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom", she was accused of having a crush on Hefty Smurf, but she never showed any special attention to him. It is likely Smurfstorm was just jealous that Smurfblossom acknowledged Hefty Smurf's skill.
Hefty thinks of Blossom as a happy-go-lucky spirit, laughing as she fails to hit a target with a bone narrow in "Storm Loses Her Mojo" and later in the same episode, goes with Papa Smurf and Smurfette to reclaim Storm's warrior spirit. He also says that being partnered up with Blossom doesn't make much difference in "Smurf Racers", as he is used to her happy attitude.
Hefty and Blossom were partners in the Pumpkin Race in "Smurf Racers" and Hefty chooses her on his smurfball team in "An Unsmurfy Friendship".
Despite their friendship, Hefty has gotten annoyed with Blossom on some occasions, such as "Smurf Racers" where Hefty is irritated with Blossom going slow and detouring in the middle of the Pumpkin Race. Hefty is also mildly annoyed when Blossom throws him off from shooting an arrow when she scares him and laughs when Blossom fails to shoot an arrow.
Dimwitty Smurf
Blossom can occasionally be seen with Dimwitty. In "Smurf Racers", he and Blossom team up to stop Gargamel and Azrael, who have disguised themselves as Lily and Grouchy, respectively. They become the winners of the pumpkin race when they intentionally turn Gargamel and Azrael to the wrong pathway.
Wild Smurf
Blossom had once tried to move in with Wild in "Blossom Goes Wild!" after her argument with Storm and Lily. Despite Blossom feeling welcome in Wild's house log, Wild dislikes Blossom being around his home (though briefly found it fun until she causes him to oversleep and miss his blueberry breakfast) and tried to get her out, but to no avail until Blossom throws a party. Wild then runs her and the other Smurfs out of his log house when a bear runs into the honey trap Wild set.
Blossom has gotten irritated with Wild on several occasions, threatening to kick him when he steals her, Lily, and Begonia's muffins in "Wild Gets Tamed" and chases him with Storm and Lily to get Brainy's smurfway back in "Where's My Smurfway?".
Jokey Smurf
Though Jokey hasn't been seen much with Blossom, she considers him as a friend. In "Relaxosmurf", he presents Blossom with his exploding box, and in "A Smurfy Christmas", she goes with him and Storm to retrieve Brainy's book gift in Gargamel's hovel.
In "Blossom Goes Wild!", Jokey is shocked when Blossom reveals that she moved in with Wild and attended her party in Wild's home.
Clumsy Smurf
Blossom is friendly towards Clumsy, showing hospitality towards his arrival in Smurfy Grove in Smurfs: The Lost Village and watching out for his safety in "The Squash Smurfs" in Smurfs: The Village Behind The Wall.
In "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom", Clumsy tries and fails to comfort Blossom after being insulted by Storm accusing her of having a crush on Hefty. In "Blossom Goes Wild!", Clumsy is one of the Smurfs that attended Blossom's party in Wild's home.
Timid Smurf
Timid once wanted to be Blossom's friend in "Relaxosmurf", but constantly failed as he either was unable to talk to her or annoyed her. Her annoyance reaches its breaking point when being caught by Gargamel, and later, Bigmouth and Egghead. Here, she yells at him, but he reveals his real feelings and they escape together. When returning to the village, Blossom tells him that all he had to do was ask, before giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Grouchy Smurf
In "Unsmurfable Smile", Blossom, with Smurfette, try to make him smile, with no hope... at least until the end of the episode, where they both find him smiling at the sky. When they get back down safely, Blossom almost makes Grouchy smile again, though he denies it.
The two are generally considered friends. In "Blossom Goes Wild!", Grouchy is one of the many Smurfs that went to Blossom's party in Wild's house. In "Smurf Racers", Blossom says "Grouchy's" (who is Azrael in disguise) costume of Azrael looks nice.
In "An Unsmurfy Friendship", Blossom found Grouchy to be annoying and bothersome on her team, pushing him around when the game starts. When he comes back with Bigmouth, she leaves the game.
Vanity Smurf
Blossom is good friends with Vanity as well. He saves her, along with Storm, Farmer, and Brainy, from getting trapped in Gargamel's magic mirror in "Mirror, Mirror, On The Armoire" and Vanity goes to her party in Wild's house in "Blossom Goes Wild!". Blossom watches the competition between Vanity and Tailor for a new outfit in "The Makeover".
In "The Pluffs", Blossom meets a Vanity Pluff, who calls her blue skin "mundane" and later, he calls Blossom a "weirdo" when she pretends to pull a joke on a "Pluff" he doesn't like which is Brainy.
