Nobody fools the Storm.
-Smurfstorm
Smurfstorm (original French name TempĂȘte) is one of the main characters of the 2021 TV series and the comic books, usually in the Girls' Village Collection. She made her debut in Smurfs: The Lost Village.
Character[]
The fiercest female Smurf, Storm is an expert markswoman, an outstanding athlete, brave as can be, and as tough as nails. She loves to challenge Hefty and show off how strong and agile she is. Like a military general, she often takes charge and doesn't hesitate to boss the others around.
Storm is not the least bit touchy-feely and has no patience for the mushy stuff â except when it comes to kittens. At times, she can be rather abrasive. She melts at the sight of them, though this something she doesn't want anyone to know. She'd hate for her tough-girl reputation to be compromised.
At times, she can be rather abrasive. Also, she has a quick temper and can be a hothead, jumping into action without thinking things through and creating her own brand of chaos. That said, she is extremely loyal and protective of her friends.
Personality[]
Comic Book/2021 TV Series Version[]
Smurfstorm's a no-nonsense, tomboyish, tough-as-nails warrior, who immediately questions why Smurfette and the boys had to come to Smurfy Grove. Her protective nature made it hard to trust them. But through her tough exterior lies a heart of gold, and underneath it all, she's a girl who would do anything for her family and friends.
Storm often jumps to conclusions on everything. In "The Crow In Smurfy Grove", she assumes that Growlers are crushing their squash and wants to attack them immediately. When Lily holds a vote with Blossom tallying, Storm accuses Blossom of cheating and forces her into the forest with Smurfette and another Smurf Girl.
Storm's habit of jumping to conclusions also makes problems. In "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom" after accusing Blossom of having a crush on Hefty, Storm starts wondering whether she was actually correct in her accusations. When she and Hefty are surrounded by the Growlers, she asks him whether he and Blossom are really sweethearts, though this confuses him.
Storm has a habit of gloating. In "Challenges For Hefty Smurf" in Smurfs: The Village Behind The Wall, she sneers at Hefty for getting annoyed at her leaving so much out of her explanation of what it entailed. Her gloating habit is what leads to a more negative aspect of her personality, which is shown in "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom", which shows that she cannot accept not being #1 in a contest. Even the prospect of a tie is too much for Storm to consider, and her desire to prove herself better than everyone else spurs her to repeatedly risk her life while dealing with Growlers, even after her injury.
Storm's competitive side also brings out the worst in her. When competing against Hefty in "Smurf Racers", both she and Hefty accidentally push both Blossom and Dimwitty off of their smurfmobiles. Instead of trying to get them off of the cliff, they prioritize winning against Smurfette and Brainy and abandon them. Storm also insults Dimwitty's Gargamel snail in "Shell Game", which upsets the snail and causes him to knock Storm away with Hefty.
A notable aspect of Storm is her tendency to be very sarcastic, especially towards Smurfette and Hefty. She insults Smurfette in "Alien Smurf" when she claims an an alien has taken over the village and in "Wanna Bet?", she mocks Smurfette when she refuses to lose the bets she makes, which angers Smurfette to the point of her making more bets. She threatens Hefty in "Wanna Bet?" after Hefty attempts to fight her for moving Smurfette off the clearing in the forest.
However, she is extremely loyal and protective of her friends. At rare times, she will congratulate a true winner and will admit when she is wrong, such as in "Smurf Racers", "See Gargamel Run", and "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom".
Storm is smarter than most of the regular Smurfs. In "Gargamel, Queen Of The Prom", she and Lily are the first Smurfs to discover that Gargamel and Azrael are disguised as Smurf Girls.
Lost Village Version[]
This version of Smurfstorm is similar to her comic book/2021 TV series version, with the exception that she is portrayed to be more abrasive and noticeably shows distrust towards the other Smurfs. She also lacks her competitive personality towards Hefty (here, she simply ignores his complaints) and the other Smurfs and is quick to discredit the existence of Gargamel.
Storm is also shown to be a Smurf of very little words - like her comic book/2021 TV series counterpart, Storm can jump to conclusions pretty quickly, such as believing Smurfette is still evil since she was created by Gargamel and suspects she can still be evil.
Appearance[]
Storm has short dark blue hair and bangs similar to Smurfwillow's, she wears the sand-colored dress, hat, and shoes. She's known for wearing a violet shawl, a green leaf bracelet on her left wrist, a four-leaf clover in the left side her hat, ear flaps on it, and she carries a bow and arrow with her.
In the 2021 cartoon, Smurfstorm's design remains the same, except that she wears a hat with no ear flips, a green dress, and green leaf bracelets on her two wrists.
In "The Magic Pumpkin" and "Smurf Racers", two Halloween episodes from the 2021 series, Storm can be seen wearing a black dress with a skeleton on it.
History[]
Smurfs: The Lost Village[]
Smurfstorm was an inhabitant of Smurfy Grove throughout her early life, and though she's unaware of the existence of Smurf Village, and the boy population of Smurfs. That changed when Smurfette, Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty arrived in search of Smurfy Grove, looking to warn the inhabitants of the threat of Gargamel. Suspicious by nature, Smurfstorm was unwilling to trust them, and she was quick to discount Gargamel after learning he was heading for the Swamp of No Return. When Smurfwillow asked her to check out the situation, she initially objected, not wanting to leave her alone with them; when Willow insisted, Stormy contented herself with bringing along Clumsy so that he could point Gargamel out to her.
Upon finding Gargamel, they were threatened by his pet vulture Monty, and then Stormy turned control of her Dragonfly Spitfire over to Clumsy; when he commented that "flying really's not his thing", then she retorted that as he had never flown before, she couldn't judge whether or not it was his thing. Contrary to his expectations, Clumsy performed very well, and even Stormy was impressed by his efforts. however, her suspicions were further aroused against him and his friends, after she learned that Gargamel had created Smurfette. When she and Clumsy returned to Smurfy Grove, she confronted Smurfette, and she revealed her origin to her fellow villagers, then they confronted Papa Smurf when he arrived in search of Smurfette, Hefty, Brainy, and Clumsy. Sadly, Smurfstorm and the others, minus Smurfette, were captured by Gargamel using his Freeze Balls, and they were taken to Gargamel's castle to be drained of their inherent magical energy.
Then Smurfstorm and the others were rescued thanks to the actions of Smurfette, whose unique nature allowed her to drain Gargamel's stolen power and return it to its rightful place. Unfortunately, Smurfette was reverted to her original form as a lump of blue clay by the action, and the inhabitants of Smurfy Grove traveled with their new friends to Smurf Village to lay her to rest. However, as the two villages' worth of Smurfs clasped hands in shared mourning, their inherent magic restored Smurfette to life, and soon a huge celebration was afterwards. Then, Stormy spoke admirably of Smurfette's courage, and she was later seen angrily expressing herself during a session with Therapist Smurf.
Relationships with Others[]
Smurfblossom[]

Storm's best friend, overall, is Blossom. Blossom is the only Smurf Girl that consistently calls Storm "Stormy". Storm helps out Blossom whenever she needs it, helping her get Brainy's smurfway back in "Where's My Smurfway?" and helping run Gargamel and Azrael out of the forest in "See Gargamel Run".
The first instance of their friendship was when Storm was said to be Blossom's best friend in "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom". Their relationship almost ended after Storm accused Blossom of having a crush on Hefty but became friends again by the end of the comic.

Blossom idolizes Storm's strength and aspires to be as strong as her one day. Storm is often seen giving Blossom practice lessons ("Storm Loses Her Mojo") or practicing together ("Alien Smurf" and "Smurfboards").

In "Storm Loses Her Mojo", Blossom uses a spell to take Storm's power, as she idolizes her strength. However, the spell ends up making her the "warrior queen" of the forest. At night, Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Hefty sneak back into the forest, where Blossom captures the three and challenges Storm to an archery competition. Storm ends up winning and gets her "mojo" back while Blossom goes back to being a happy Smurf. The two happily walk away (though Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Hefty are still stuck in the vines that Blossom had set up).
Blossom hugging Storm in "Where's My Smurfway?".
Occasionally, Storm will get annoyed at Blossom's constant happiness, as in "Where's My Smurfway?", when Blossom hugs Storm, Storm just sighs.
With Lily, Storm had once gotten into a major fight with Blossom in "Blossom Goes Wild!", as Storm shares Lily's annoyance for tampering with Lily's truck and almost falling into the river.
Smurflily[]
Storm and Lily unconvincingly look at the disguised Hefty and Scaredy in "Smurfs In Disguise".
Storm's second best friend is Lily. The two have been shown to share the same thoughts and smarts as each other. Storm was on Lily's side when trying to get Blossom to apologize in "Blossom Goes Wild!" and the two are the first to realize that Gargamel and Azrael were disguised as Smurf Girls in "Gargamel, Queen Of The Prom". In "Wanna Bet?", Lily is the first Smurf that Storm talks about taking the stuff she won from the village in a bet with Smurfette.
In "An Unsmurfy Friendship", Storm chooses Lily as one of her smurfball teammates and is notably the first Smurf she chooses. In "Poet Slam", she votes for Lily in the poetry contest against Poet and is the first one to say that "orange" and "porridge" don't rhyme after Poet attempts to rhyme them. Storm roots for her in the waffle eating contest against Greedy in "Waffles And Punishment".
At times however, Storm is annoyed with her constant idea of thinking before she jumps to conclusions, as shown in "The Crow In Smurfy Grove". Lily herself has shown annoyance for Storm blowing her ideas off and fighting them with violence.
Smurfwillow[]
Like the other Smurf Girls, the two have a mother-daughter relationship. Storm cares about Willow and often agrees with whatever she says, such as agreeing with Willow on being upset at Lily for breaking the rule of not smurfing to the other side of the wall and had never told Willow in "A Smurflily Strange World" of Smurfs: The Village Behind The Wall.
Willow is the only Smurf Girl that is able to reason with Storm when she is being hostile, such as calming her down when she distrusts the Smurfs from Smurf Village in Smurfs: The Lost Village and telling her about the lack of rules in her challenge against Hefty in "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom".
Hefty Smurf[]
Hefty and Storm engaging in one of their many fights.
Storm is Hefty's female counterpart as she is the strongest and most athletically skilled of the Smurf girls. Storm and Hefty are good friends, but they are also very competitive against one another when it comes to tests of skill and strength.
In one of their earliest interactions in "Challenges For Hefty Smurf" in the Smurfs: The Village Behind The Wall comics, Storm suspects Hefty of being a liar, accusing him of completely making up all his tales of bravery. She thinks she's been vindicated when he balks at fighting the Gobble-All but changes her mind upon seeing him race in to save Brainy. After those events, Storm came to respect Hefty, even suggesting he become an honorary member of Smurfy Grove.
Hefty trying to defend Smurfette's honor from Storm in "Wanna Bet".
Due to her competitive nature, Storm can be very spiteful and envious if she loses a competition as seen in the comic book, "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom", where after being bested by Hefty, she grows angry with both him and Blossom (Blossom for acknowledging Hefty's skill) and decides to make up a false rumor that Blossom likes Hefty in an attempt to embarrass them. She eventually apologizes to them both and is relieved to have made up with Blossom as her spitefulness almost put her in danger.
Hefty is willing to challenge â and possibly even fight â Storm if it means defending Smurfetteâs honor as seen in "Wanna Bet?" when Storm doesnât let Smurfette train in âherâ training area. Hefty can become a bit intimidated by her though as he then decides to train elsewhere with Smurfette after Storm aggressively threatens him with one of her arrows.
Smurfette[]
In their first interaction in Smurfs: The Lost Village, Storm distrusted Smurfette and was extremely suspicious of her, believing that she will lead them to Gargamel, which she ends up accidentally doing. However, when freeing the Smurf Girls, Storm is notably mourning her death until Smurfette comes back to life. Later, Storm claims that she is tough... though not as tough as her.
Storm and Smurfette can get into arguments often. This will often take a turn for the worst, such as in "Wanna Bet?", where Smurfette bets her the village in a competition and she and the other Smurfs lose their village. In "Poet Slam", Storm is seen fighting with Smurfette over a bucket, and in "Smurf Racers", Smurfette makes fun of Storm as she and Brainy pass them in the Pumpkin Race. Her desire to win causes her to abandon her partner, Dimwitty. Storm also personally mocks Smurfette when her team with Hefty and Blossom is losing in the smurfball game in "An Unsmurfy Friendship".
However, in spite of their fighting, the two are still friends. In "Wanna Bet?", as Smurfette wins her bet with Storm (who has won her village bet and is around it with Blossom, Lily, and Begonia) as she gives her a magic cake made by Papa Smurf, she sees that the cake piece she ate comes back and declares Smurfette as the winner, giving the two a friendly relationship. In "Alien Smurf", Storm helps Smurfette save the other Smurfs from the alien Glee-Go.
Handy Smurf[]
Storm has a notable friendship with Handy. In "Smurf Your Seat Belts!", the two bicker throughout the episode, but save each other from Azrael, who is being controlled from an amulet by Gargamel. When the two are safely on the ground, they hug and become allies to each other, even saying the same line "It's already taken care of".
In "Relaxosmurf", she asks Handy to repair her bone arrow (though she remarks that he and the other male Smurfs are not always the brightest), and in "An Unsmurfy Friendship", Storm chooses Handy on her smurfball team. In "Gargamel, Queen Of The Prom", they are seen discussing where some of the decorations should be set up for the party. In "The Dream Team", Storm is notably one of the three Smurfs (alongside Smurfette and Hefty) that Handy wants to pick to save his jetpack from Dwayne.
Brainy Smurf[]
Brainy and Storm giggling in "Smurfy Secrets".
Brainy is close friends with Storm. In "Smurfy Secrets", they team up to figure out the Smurfs' secrets so it confirms that he is not Gargamel. When Jokey (who was still plotting revenge after they accidentally said his disgusting secret out loud) finds the pages, he spreads them around and they hide in the forest from angry Smurfs. Eventually, after running into Gargamel, they defeat him and Azrael and free the Smurfs. After Storm gives Brainy his glasses back, he hugs her.
Storm cares about Brainy and his happiness. In "A Smurfy Christmas", she goes with Jokey and Blossom to retrieve Brainy's Christmas gift from Gargamel's hovel.
In "The Betrayal Of Smurfblossom", Storm tells Willow that Brainy had a "good" idea of setting the Growler nests on fire, which Willow declines to.
However, their relationship can also be negative, as in "Manners Matter", Storm slaps Brainy's hand when he tries to blame her when Papa Smurf does not like the girls' manners. Storm also claims that Brainy "Can't be normal" in Smurfs: The Lost Village. In "The Betryal Of Smurfblossom", Storm slaps Brainy for giving her mouth-to-mouth.
Clumsy Smurf[]
Clumsy with Storm
When Clumsy and Storm first met in Smurfs: The Lost Village, Clumsy explains who Gargamel was and when they ride Spitfire the Dragonfly, he became respected by Storm for his quick thinking and ability to ride the insect.
In "An Unsmurfy Friendship", Storm chooses Clumsy on her smurfball team.
Papa Smurf[]
Papa Smurf is shown to be good friends with Storm. He trusts her deeply, as shown in "Smurfy Secrets" where she and Brainy are made in charge of keeping the secrets of the Smurfs in the notebook that he gave to them to protect the village from Gargamel. Papa Smurf also assigns her as a "chief deputy" to Brainy, seeing her as strong. Papa Smurf also trusts her with Blossom to teach the Smurfs proper manners in "Manners Matter". Notably, Storm is one of the three Smurfs (alongside Smurfette and Hefty) that he asks for help with in "The Dream Team" so it can be assumed that Storm is very reliable to him.
Papa Smurf often helps Storm with troubles she has, such as helping her regain her warrior spirit back from Blossom in "Storm Loses Her Mojo". Storm in turn has helped him on occasion, such as trying to find a potion to bring him and the entire village back to regular Smurfs when turned into babies in "Smurfy Day Care".
Dimwitty Smurf[]
Storm and Dimwitty were partners in the Pumpkin Race in "Smurf Racers". However, Dimwitty agitated Storm often with his stupidity, and accidentally throws him off of the smurfmobile. Later, when Dimwitty was announced as a winner of the Pumpkin Race, Storm accepts that this is fair.
In "Shell Game", Storm insults Dimwitty's Gargamel snail, claiming that he's "too old", which resulted in the snail knocking her and Hefty away. In "A Smurfy Christmas", Storm and Dimwitty exchange gifts after Jokey deliberately mixes the Christmas letters.
Baby Smurf[]
Storm and Baby Smurf.
Storm was seen with Baby in "Smurfy Day Care". Storm initially thought of him as a nuisance, particularly when Papa Smurf asks Storm to take care of Baby, which only got worse as everyone has turned into babies. However, at the end of the episode, Storm sees the good in him and she and Baby laugh after they both burp.
Storm appears to actively avoid taking care of Baby, like Hefty, in both "Smurfy Day Care" and "Hefty Baby".
Jokey Smurf[]
Storm is often suspicious of Jokey due to his pranking nature, with her being the first to suspect Jokey of doing something to the Christmas letters in "A Smurfy Christmas". In "The Round Up", she and Hefty are sent out into the forest with him due to using a magic potion that made Farmer's snails go faster.
In "Smurfy Secrets", she and Brainy force him to give his secret to them, which is "smurfing" in Farmer's fields. When they accidentally say this out loud, Farmer and the other Smurfs are disgusted. This leaves Jokey mad at Brainy and Storm and he decides to steal the book to reveal the secrets. He is forced to apologize to them when he is caught.
Vanity Smurf[]
Storm has been seen with Vanity on a couple occasions. Vanity saves her, along with Blossom, Brainy, and Farmer from Gargamel's magic mirror in "Mirror, Mirror On The Armoire". Storm finds annoyance that Vanity is so vain, especially when they are in danger.
In "Dreamer: Master Of Love", Dreamer briefly attempts to ship the two together when he sees Vanity's lips puckering up, but his idea is dropped when Storm "insults" Vanity after asking if he has a pimple on his face. However, Dreamer sees this as hope and decides to get the two together after his attempts with Papa Smurf and Willow failed. However, "What A Doll" shows that both only see each other as friends, evident as they are both scared to kiss while turned into dolls by Rowena.
Smurf Videogames[]
Smurfs' Village[]
Storm appears in this game, listed as one of the "Smurfs at the Grove". A challenge can be completed in her archery range, which is mastering archery.
The Smurfs Epic Run[]
Storm appears as one of the Smurfs that can be unlocked by completing an item hunt. When unlocked, she is given invulnerability to flying enemies and a triple jump ability.
Smurfs Kart[]
Storm appears in Smurfs Kart as one of the twelve characters you can play. Her special power is firing sticky arrows on opponents to change their trajectory.
The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone[]
Storm appears as one of the four playable characters in this game. She helps Handy set out to acquire the stone to finish the creation of his SmurfoMix, and they find themselves followed by Brainy and Dimwitty follows in his usual obliviousness. The four goes to infiltrate Gargamelâs hovel, where they encounter a mysterious creature.
Storm then follows the creature through the portal, which leads into Smurf Forest. She finds crystals resembling the stone have sprung up around the forest, along with a poisonous black slime and monstrous CrystoBeasts. After making her way through the forest, Storm arrives at the farm of Old Man Fork and makes her way towards the farmerâs cabin.
It is Storm who first hears Stolas speaking and declaring his desire to be free from the Green Stone. Despite her efforts to befriend him, Stolas is convinced that Storm and her friends only want to use him, a case not helped by their current alliance with Gargamel. Not wishing to bother with her himself, Stolas creates a clone that attacks Storm for him. Despite being bombarded with attacks from both the duplicate and CrystoBeasts, Storm is able to win and obtain some of Stolasâ essence. Back at the hovel, Papa Smurf welcomes Storm back and lets Brainy take charge of the situation.
Storm then uses the Green Stoneâs last fragment to trap Gargamel in a crystal. The Smurfs clean up the remainder of the wizardâs contamination, and soon are celebrating with their new friend Stolas.
Appearances[]
Trivia[]
- Her character was voiced by Michelle Rodriguez in Smurfs: The Lost Village and Sandra Asratian in the 2021 series, who also voices Lazy and Blossom.
- Her personality seems similar to Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) since she can be reckless, impulsive, and stubborn.
- A subtle, but noticeable pattern occurs with the appearances of her, Blossom and Lily during the 2021 series; in season 1, she has the most appearances, in season 2, Blossom has the most, and Lily has the most as of the ongoing season three.
- According to "Storm Loses Her Mojo", the clover on her hat represents her "mojo", which is why and how she is super strong. When it is taken off (which can happen because of a simple little spell), she is powerless and fearful.
- Storm is a self-proclaimed "master archer". With how many times she has practiced it, she has been able to shoot the arrow at its exact target.
- Through her tough demeanor, Storm has cried once in "Smurfy Day Care" and has almost teared up in "Storm Loses Her Mojo" and "Poet Slam".
- Her personality is similar to Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, both her and Rainbow Dash are tough, tomboyish, aggressive, reckless, and hot-headed.
- She is one of the competitors in the snail race, with the other being Hefty. In "The Round Up", her other competitor is Chef, and in "Shell Game", her other competitor is Dimwitty. The snail she rides is named "Escar Go".
- In her early concept design, Storm did not have a clover or her pack of bow and arrows.
- She, Smurfblossom, Smurfwillow, Smurflily, and Smurfbegonia are the only main characters from the 2021 series to not originate from the 80s series.
