Plot Summary[]
Smurfette and the Smurflings are preparing to put on a play in Smurf Theater, with Smurfette making the final adjustments in lines and staging. She then asks Snappy if he memorized his lines. Unfortunately, Snappy can barely remember the lines, so Smurfette tells him if he forgets, he can whisper out to her to say the line.
The theater opens as the Smurfs watch and clap for the play, titled "The Brave Knight and the Dragon". At first, it goes smoothly, as Sassette acts as the princess, Slouchy acting as the mean wizard, and Snappy being the dragon. Snappy, however, continues to barely remember his lines and has to ask Smurfette every few seconds. The pressure of the laughing Smurfs and the struggle makes Snappy abandon his role and swap it for a comedian dragon, which makes the audience (as well as Nat and Slouchy) laugh, but the princess Sassette and especially Smurfette annoyed and upset.
Later, the Smurflings sit in Smurfette's house as Smurfette berates Snappy for ruining the play. Despite this, Snappy tries to deflect and say the audience loved it, but Smurfette doesn't care, still saying he ruined the play. Snappy tries to get backup from his fellow Smurflings, but they all angrily slurp their drinks. Snappy wants forgiveness from Smurfette. She says she'll forgive him, but not today.
Meanwhile, Clumsy is with Papa Smurf in his lab, telling him that Brainy said the play was a disaster. Just then, Snappy arrives with his puppet, who he had named Galagawagga. Both Clumsy and Papa Smurf say that they enjoyed the play, but Snappy explains to Papa Smurf that Smurfette and the other Smurflings don't think so. Papa Smurf says that this is understandable, but can't get into detail right now, as he is digging for research in a potion. Snappy finds this exciting and looks into it. He then asks Galagawagga if he's hungry. He dips the puppet into the pot, causing magic to unfold and Snappy's puppet beings flying uncontrollably!
Clumsy runs out of the lab to tell the other Smurfs to come see Snappy's new live puppet. The Smurfs observe it fly around. It comes down and steals Brainy's glasses, with Brainy complaining about this to Papa Smurf. The village leader is unsure about who or what this creature is as it takes Snappy to do some unsmurfy pranks around the village.
The puppet scares Greedy, causing his cake to fall, which enrages him and ends up trying to hit Snappy (or the puppet) for this. It then goes to Jokey's house, scaring him with the puppet's voice, causing what was going to be his "best prank" explodes on the ground, leaving Jokey furious. It also wrecks Dreamy's idea to fly with an airplane made by Handy. The nail Handy was about to hammer accidentally hits Dreamy's thumb, causing the airplane to collapse as the two watch Snappy's puppet fly in the air.
Snappy and Galagawagga then fly back to the Smurflings' house, where Snappy tries to make Galagawagga sleep in the toy box. This escalates into the puppet sending Snappy flying away. The other Smurflings wake up and are frightened by the sight.
In the morning, Greedy calls the Smurfs for the morning breakfast. There are talks about Snappy and his puppet all around the dining room until Snappy and Galagawagga themselves show up. The puppet eats all of the food and tries to make the Smurfs laugh, but they all cross their arms in frustration. Galagawagga sees these Smurfs as dull and decides to leave the village - flying, as it passes Papa Smurf and Smurfette.
The puppet arrives at the forest, where Snappy complains about spraining his ankle. Both Galagawagga and Snappy voice their complaints about being with each other, but the puppet refuses to let Snappy go back to the village. What they don't know, however, is a mysterious creature is following them. Meanwhile, an owl alerts Papa Smurf, Hefty, and Handy, who are out to look for Snappy, that a ferret is coming. The owl flies to where the ferret is, with Feathers following. While arriving, Papa Smurf carries a potion that can possibly undo the magic on Snappy's puppet.
Snappy and Galagawagga come face to face with the ferret, so they have to resolve their differences as Snappy tells Galagawagga his plan. They pretend to act hopeless, which gives Snappy time to throw a stick in the ferret's mouth. The Smurfs then arrive just in time. Papa Smurf orders the ferret to leave while he performs the reverse spell on the puppet, transforming Galagawagga back to its regular form.
With the puppet now back to its normal form, Papa Smurf tells Snappy that he is unsure if he'll ever see Galagawagga again, but that doesn't matter now, as they can finally go home, with Snappy saying he can study his lines and laughs.
Trivia[]
- Despite Brainy offscreen saying that the puppet show was a disaster, he can be seen enjoying and laughing at it earlier.
- Replacing Brainy’s broken glasses is quite an ordeal (as shown in "The Dark Ness Monster") but here his broken glasses are treated as a minor inconvenience. Shortly after, the lenses of Brainy’s glasses shown intact while the frame is still broken.
