Plot Summary[]
Beginning as a normal summer day, the Smurflings are heading to the swimming pond, when the smell of Greedy's freshly baked cupcakes awakens their appetites. When they enter his kitchen and ask for some, Greedy happily gives one to each Smurfling. However, Snappy isn't satisfied with just one and asks for a second, which Greedy declines. Snappy grabs another despite his wishes, the two fighting over it until Greedy goes flying into the nearby table. The angry chef then collects the cupcakes from each of the Smurflings and pushes them out of his kitchen as a result. Slouchy, also on behalf of both Nat and Sassette, blames Snappy for the loss of their treats, while the latter rebuffs that none of it would have happened if Greedy let him have his way.
Things get worse when Snappy asks Smurfette to let him play with a blanket she already washed and put up to dry. Smurfette refuses and Snappy kicks her clothes basket straight onto Puppy and the ground in anger. That being the last straw, Smurfette angrily grabs Snappy by the arm and the rest of the Smurflings look on as he is taken away to be reprimanded by Papa Smurf.
Later, Snappy arrives at the playhouse in time for bed. Nat and Sassette then ask if he received a punishment, which Snappy confirms, revealing he's going to spend the next day harvesting smurfberries for Greedy and helping Smurfette with her laundry. Nat points out it was Snappy's fault, while his friend once again insists none of it would've happened if the grown-ups let him have his way.
The next morning, as Snappy is heading to the smurfberry fields to begin his punishment chores, he hears a call for help. He then discovers a troll named Aloysius J. caught in a rope snare made for a Smurf, hanging from a tree by his foot. Snappy sets him loose, bringing him back to Earth. As a thank you gift, Aloysius tells him he will grant the Smurfling one wish. Without hesitation, Snappy wishes for the power to instantly defy any grown-up and for them to cater to his every whim. Every time a grown-up tells Snappy "No", he must say "DO-RE-MI!" and the grown-up will do his whim. At first, Papa Smurf crosses paths with Snappy and asks him if he already began his punishment chores, but Snappy says that he prefers to go swimming with the other Smurflings. Papa Smurf firmly insists that Snappy won't be able to do that until the punishment is over, so Snappy says "DO-RE-MI!" and the leader obeys him, so he orders him to harvest smurfberries instead. Snappy is now overjoyed, knowing Aloysius' magic worked and he will always get his way.
Meanwhile at the pond, the Smurflings feel a little sorry for Snappy and decide to help him do his chores so he will pay his punishment debt faster. However, when reaching the Smurf Village, they are amazed to find that Snappy has all the Smurfs catering to his every whim while resting in a hammock (for example; Clumsy is fanning Snappy with a leaf, Smurfette serves him as a waitress, Greedy only makes food for him...), but when he tells them how he obtained the power, the Smurflings decide to visit Aloysius and ask him to take it away as their friend has been abusing it.
With some persuasion (and one of Greedy's smurfberry pancakes), the Smurflings convince Aloysius to go with them. Snappy still isn't satisfied, deciding that he wants to eat an ice cream made with snow from the highest mountain in the forest. So, with his DO-RE-MI, Snappy prepares the Smurfs in winter clothes to bring him to the Snow Peak (and to make matters worse, Grouchy and Hefty are made the sled-pulling dogs of Snappy's sled).
Before the Smurflings and Aloysius (riding on Puppy's back) would reach the village, Snappy's "crew" make it to the highest snow peak and Snappy declares that it deserves a fanfare. Harmony refuses, saying that he can't do that because it's dangerous, but Snappy says DO-RE-MI and takes his horn to play the fanfare himself. At a distance, Aloysius and the Smurflings hear it and turn back to the mountain. When the fanfare is over, an avalanche happens, and the group tries to avoid it without success. Snappy emerges from the snow and witnesses in horror that the other Smurfs are still buried. Now faced with the consequences of his wayward and whimsical behavior, he tries in vain to rescue the Smurfs.
Fortunately, Aloysius and the Smurflings arrive and help him rescue the Smurfs after all. Back at the village, Snappy finally learns that getting his way is not always a bed of roses, especially if the consequences would turn into tragedies or anything worse. Aloysius decides to get back to his home under the bridge and stay there for the next 500 years, but not before granting one final favor to Snappy, who wanted to be free from the previous wish. As the adventure is now over, Papa Smurf points out that the Smurflings should go to bed, but Snappy wants to stay up. The nearby Smurfs reprimand him by shouting "SNAPPY!", and he shamefully smiles, saying "Maybe I am kinda sleepy, after all".
Trivia[]
- This is the first and only appearance of Aloysius J. Troll. His design and mannerisms resemble the Scottish people in some ways.
- This is one of the first episodes to be animated overseas in Wang Film Productions/Cuckoos Nest Studio from Season 6 onwards and Toei Animation for a few episodes in Season 7 & 8.
- The Smurf trap that caught Aloysius right before Snappy saved him could've been made by Gargamel, although he doesn't appear in this episode nor is mentioned.
