The Dark Knight is a character that appeared in the Season 9 episode "The Smurfs Of The Round Table". He is at best an animated suit of armor under the control of Morgan le Fey, who does whatever his mistress commands of him. He isn't very intelligent, as when he goes forth from Morgan's castle to carry out a command, he doesn't bother to use the door.
In the episode, he appeared with Morgan during a jousting festival to help her steal Excalibur so that she could turn King Arthur and everything in Camelot into wax, then cast a spell on the sun to burn hotter so that the king and his kingdom will melt away. When a group of Smurfs led by Papa Smurf went with Merlin and Sir Lancelot to find Morgan's castle, the Dark Knight was sent to stop them. Papa Smurf used Sir Will to cast a spell of magnetism on a giant rock in order to keep the Dark Knight from hurting anyone. Later on, as the Smurfs confronted Morgan as she used Excalibur to try destroying them, the Dark Knight showed up, still pinned to the magnetized rock which wrenched the magic sword out of his mistress' hands. When Morgan was transformed into a harmless mouse and the spell of magnetism was removed, the Dark Knight ended up stumbling around, no longer under the control of anyone.

- The Dark Knight was probably based on "The Black Knight", an evil knight in black armor who appears in some versions of the legend of King Arthur. In an earlier Australian animated series, Arthur and his Square Knights of the Round Table, there was a Black Knight who likewise served as the acolyte of Morgan le Fay. However, this one was definitely human, as well as a whiny, cowardly fool whose villainous efforts always backfired Gargamel style.
