"The Round Up" is the twenty-second episode of Season 1 of the CGI TV series, The Smurfs.

Synopsis[]
On the day of the snail race, Jokey gives Farmer's racing snails a potion to make them super-fast. These backfires and snails run out of the village, so Jokey, Storm, and Hefty are sent to go to look for them.
Summary[]
In Smurf Village, Farmer hosts his annual snail race, a competition where snails go as fast as they can to win. Multiple Smurfs talk about who will win as the Smurfs who will participate in the competition are announced: Chef, Storm, and Hefty, who have Nibbles, Escar Go and Gliding Biceps, respectively. While they are being announced, Jokey is feeding the snails something inside of his box. After feeding all three of the snails, he sits down next to Smurfette, who is surprised to see Jokey here after what happened last time where Jokey was really bored. He tells Smurfette that he's "changed" and that this year, it could be a little better. However, just as the race is going to start, the snails feel strange, and they go much faster than their supposed to. The three Smurfs on the snails endure how fast they are going. Jokey laughs and tells Smurfette that he has given the snails a potion from Papa Smurf's lab that can make things super-fast.
Full speed ahead!
First, Nibbles keeps turning around fast and flings Chef onto a wall. Second, Escar Go moves around a Smurf house and Storm tries to hang on, but she falls into a Smurf's garden. Lastly, Gliding Biceps moves around, and Hefty is on his stomach trying to stop him. He fails to hold on and let's go of him. The three snails catch up with each other and race around the village. Farmer tries to stop them, but they run over him and continue to go into the forest.
Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Brainy watch a traumatized Farmer lay on the ground and they hear Jokey's laughs. Jokey tells Papa Smurf that the races are always so boring and says that it was a little more fun. Papa Smurf tells him that he has to round up all three snails or else. Jokey tries to get out of it, but Storm and Hefty angrily look at him and waddles into the forest with everyone mad at him. Papa Smurf sends Storm and Hefty with Jokey, with Hefty says they'll show him some excitement too.
In the forest, Jokey is bored trying to look for the slimy snails. He then comes across a snail, and he decides to draw one of the designs as if it were Gliding Biceps. Hefty and Storm look at him as Papa Smurf were not kidding when he said to round up the snails. Jokey covers it up by saying he's practicing his "penmanship".
Back in the village, Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Brainy nurse Farmer back to health by using salt potion. He wakes up and wants to search for his snails as they don't know their way in the forest. He gets out of his bed and runs out of his house. Papa Smurf says the salts are very powerful.
In the forest again, Hefty and Storm tell Jokey that he cannot replace the snails by adding accessories to them. Jokey tells them that Farmer won't know the difference and that they're all the same. Just then, they come across the real Gliding Biceps eating grass. Storm decides to yell at the snail to not move, but he speeds off. Jokey attempts to run back to the village, but Hefty grabs him by the pants and let's go, saying that he has an even bigger mess to clean up. Storm asks what he make them eat, with Jokey replying that he got some magic vitamins from Papa Smurf's lab. Hefty takes them and he and Storm walk off to find the snails. Jokey follows. The three finally find the snails, who are eating grass.
As Hefty discusses the plan, Jokey says that they are out of their league and rounding the snails up is impossible. Storm decides to take the snails on herself. She releases her bone arrow at Escar Go and it starts moving. Storm successfully holds on, but a rock hits her. Jokey laughs but Hefty comes up with another plan: to toss a rock and he'll jump on Gliding Biceps and ride him to the village. When he actually does it, however, he goes farther away from him and crashes into a tree. Jokey then realizes that he will have to be the one to round the snails up.
Jokey goes to the snails, but his pants get stuck to a branch, and they rip off. The snails notice that Jokey is approaching them naked, which he is embarrassed by. He covers himself with two leaves. They want to eat it off of him, so Jokey starts running. He runs into a log and tries to stop them with his gift boxes, but to no effect as they are big. He jumps out of the log and goes the other way. He stops running, believing that the snails are gone, but he sees Gliding Biceps underneath him and runs again. He sees Escar Go and stops so he won't get eaten. He runs to another direction, but this time, all three snails are near him. Hefty and Storm come back to save him, but to no avail. Jokey is about to be officially eaten, but they hear none other than... Farmer, who ends up being the one rounding up the snails.
As the four Smurfs are going back to the village, Jokey apologizes to Farmer for not being patient enough. Farmer accepts the apology and tells him not everyone is patient to watch stuff like grass grow. Just then, they see Bigmouth and he wants to eat the Smurfs as usual, so they use the snails to race away from him. Bigmouth tries to catch them, but he slips in the slimy goo trail left by them. Farmer decides to use the racing potion more often as they race back to the village, ending the episode.
Trivia[]
- The potion that Jokey gave the snails is similar to the animated film Turbo by Dreamworks.
- The first shot of the Smurfs cheering is reused footage from "Who's Heftier?".
- This is the second instance in the series where a Smurf is seen barefoot, with the first being "The Makeover". In this case, Jokey is seen without shoes when his pants fall off.
- This is one of the few times in a Smurf-related production that Papa Smurf is referred to as Santa Claus due to the visual similarity between the two characters. In this episode, Farmer, while paralyzed, calls him this.
- The music that plays when Farmer rounds up the snails was previously used in "Unsmurfable Smile".
- Aside from grunting, Brainy has no lines during the episode.
- Towards the end of the episode, Farmer says he should use the fast potion more often. He will later use it in a Season 2 episode.
