The Smurfs is a game released for the Sony Playstation.
Gameplay[]
This game is targeted to young players. This is a 3d lateral view platformer where the player controls one of those little blue people through 20 levels in order to save his friends captured by the Gorgs, an army of creatures who are magical beings that are astonishingly servile and particularly stupid little servants created by the evil wizard Gargamel. Levels features the forest, icy plains, volcano undergrounds, Gargamel's castle, the Smurf Village, and so on. The adventure itself is split in two parts, one being a simple tutorial while the second part represents the game itself.
Trivia[]
- The first two cutscenes (one before the game's title screen, and the other before the game play for "It's A Piece of Cake" began) are semi-based on the beginning of The Baby Smurf comic book.
- This was the first Smurfs video game to feature the characters animated in 3D (although the cutscenes were animated traditionally in 2D).
- A notable theory that some fans assume is that you are playing as Harmony Smurf in this game. Harmony was the first Smurf to find Baby Smurf in the 1980s cartoon. But in reality, it was false because you are playing as Hefty Smurf, just like The Smurfs (1994 Video Game).
- A Nintendo 64 version was planned, but never released for unknown reasons.
- Azrael is originally gonna be one of the games' bosses alongside Gargamel and the Howlibird in the cancelled N64 version of the game. But due to the PlayStation version getting bad reviews, that idea got scrapped; Making him the only villain to appear in cutscenes.
