The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner Of The Green Stone is a video game developed by OSome Studio and edited by Microids, and the sequel to The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf.

Like its predecessor, it is believed to be canon with the Smurfs 2021 Animated Universe unless otherwise noted.

Characters[]

Plot[]

Handy Smurf has created a revolutionary invention: SmurfoMix! However, it’s missing a key ingredient, the Green Stone, which lays in the greedy clutches of Gargamel.

He sets off on a mission to retrieve the famous Green Stone, a key ingredient that would greatly help him improve his invention, from Gargamel’s laboratory. But a fatal misstep causes it to explode, its fragments scattering throughout the Cursed Land. In addition to unleashing into the wild and its incredible powers to copy and decompose matter, the Green Stone has set free the evil Stolas, a new order bent on creating a reign of terror.

A crack team of four Smurfs must then adventure to save the Cursed Land from the mighty Stolas! Well equipped, the Smurfs can count on the SmurfoMix and an unexpected ally… Gargamel himself!

Summary[]

Handy’s new SmurfoMix, an invention capable of creating delicious confections, proves faulty. Seeking a solution, he sneaks into Papa Smurf’s workshop and searches through his magic book. He discovers that there exists a magical Green Stone with the power of creation that he seeks. However, he also learns that it’s in the possession of Gargamel.

Handy sets out to acquire the stone, or at least a piece of it, with help from Storm. Brainy follows the pair to lecture them about breaking the rules, and Dimwitty follows in his usual obliviousness. Infiltrating Gargamel’s hovel, Handy succeeds in obtaining a piece of the stone. However, a mysterious creature emerges from it before disappearing into a portal.

Gargamel, roused by his uninvited guests, bemoans this development. He reluctantly agrees to a truce with the quartet of Smurfs, with Handy using his stone fragment to weaponize the SmurfoMix. Storm then follows the creature through the portal, which proves to lead into Smurf Forest. She finds crystals resembling the stone have sprung up around the forest, along with a poisonous black slime and monstrous CrystoBeasts.

After making her way through the forest, Storm arrives at the farm of Old Man Fork. His vegetable garden proves to likewise be crawling with crystals and CrystoBeasts. Taking advantage of curious substances along the way, she makes her way towards the farmer’s cabin. Meanwhile, Gargamel’s research discovers that the slime, which he himself created in his lab, appears to feed on living things.

Arriving at the cabin, Storm finds it abandoned, Old Man Fork apparently having fled the mysterious creature. Fearing the creature’s willingness to threaten humans, Storm continues her pursuit. Traveling up to the attic, she ends up in a battle that sees the floor collapse, dropping her onto a slippery slope. She then arrives at a river, where she finds further signs of her quarry as she travels down it.

Storm then hears the creature, Stolas, speaking and declaring its desire to be free. As she continues, the others contact her with news: Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Grouchy, and Poet have joined them at the hovel. Wielding the SmurfoMix and her bow, Storm continues battling CrystoBeasts even as Stolas’ pronouncements grow more ominous. Various plants and additional portals allow her to continue her travels, despite Stolas now actively encouraging the CrystoBeasts to attack her.

At last, Storm reaches Stolas, who reveals that he wishes to escape from the Green Stone. Despite her efforts to befriend him, Stolas is convinced that Storm and her friends only want to use him, a case not helped by their current alliance with Gargamel. Not wishing to bother with her himself, Stolas creates a clone that attacks Storm for him. Despite being bombarded with attacks from both the duplicate and CrystoBeasts, Storm is able to win and obtain some of Stolas’ essence.

Back at the hovel, Papa Smurf welcomes Storm back and brushes aside Handy and friends’ disobedience, for the time being. He reveals that he and Gargamel have determined that Stolas, though currently free, is still tied to the Green Stone that has been acting as his prison. Though Storm feels that there may be an alternative, Papa and Gargamel are determined to reimprison the creature and undo the effects of his escape. To make matters worse, Dimwitty, while playing with the SmurfoMix, falls through a portal and winds up in the Snowy Mountains.

Dimwitty discovers signs of Stolas’ presence in a nearby mine, and the others urge him over Smurfie-Talkie to find a portal that will bring him back. Dimwitty is forced to contend with icy winds and other hazards but follows a miner’s path with his usual cheerfulness. He is even able to use the wind to his advantage in spite of also facing frozen, crystal producing CrystoBeasts. The creatures prove unable to resist Dimwitty’s carrots, and his fellow Smurfs decipher his clues to determine that he’s near a silver mine.

Eventually, Dimwitty reaches a fork where one path appears pleasant and the other dangerous. Despite his friends’ pleas, however, Dimwitty is in no hurry to return to the hovel and goes for the more dangerous looking path. Reluctantly, the others decide to assist him as best they can. Following a clash with a particularly nasty CrystoBeast, Dimwitty continues traversing the mountains.

Dimwitty eventually runs into Stolas, whom he tries to befriend but only ends up confusing and aggravating. The creature causes an avalanche, and Dimwitty uses an ice slide and a series of portals to escape. After he’s progressed further, Storm and Smurfette inform Dimwitty that they have a plan that doesn’t involve reimprisoning Stolas. Dimwitty makes his way to the feet of the mountains and finds a portal back to the hovel.

The other Smurfs then outline their plan. They believe that if they can separate Stolas from his powers, they can break his connection to the Green Stone. Brainy, taking charge of the SmurfoMix, volunteers to seek out Stolas with this proposal. However, they resolve to keep this from Gargamel, who is intent on resuming his experiments with the recreated stone.

Making his way through another portal to the Boiling Baths where he is forced to contend with a massive CrystoToad just as Dimwitty did in the mountains. After going down several mud slides, Brainy is contacted by Papa Smurf. The elder notes that they have two potential problems to deal with: the possibility of Stolas refusing their help, and Gargamel’s lust for the power provided by Stolas’ essences. He cautions Brainy that they must prepare for both, as well as escaping Gargamel.

Brainy continues his search, employing vials of an explosive mixture against the latest strains of CrystoBeast. He soon arrives at Smurf Paradise, the Smurfs’ natural spa, and makes his way across windy terrain and acidic pools and streams. Brainy also overhears Stolas commanding the CrystoBeasts to collect magical essence, apparently part of his plan to escape the stone forever. As he continues, Brainy stumbles across an extension of Wild's obstacle course.

Braving both the course and the CrystoBeasts, Brainy discovers that Smurf Paradise has been destroyed. The local volcano, previously dormant, has apparently become active and covered the resort in lava. Finding Stolas, he tries to make the Smurfs’ case to Stolas, much to Gargamel’s outrage. Stolas explains that he is a homunculus, created by human alchemists to serve them. Though initially admiring of them, he came to fear them and was imprisoned in the Green Stone.

Having lost all trust in other beings, Stolas battles Brainy before fleeing through yet another portal. Unable to reach his friends, Brainy follows and comes across ruins he soon concludes were built by the alchemists. With the structures collapsing and lava levels rising, Brainy races through the wilds. Along the way, he grows increasingly concerned as the other Smurfs fail to respond to his calls.

Upon passing through a portal back to the hovel, Brainy discovers the cause of his friends’ radio silence. After confronting Brainy, Stolas returned there and commenced a ritual intended to secure his freedom. The hovel has thus been transformed into a mass of wreckage floating in the Astral Nothingness. With the other Smurfs trapped, Handy takes it upon himself to face Stolas.

Handy’s battle with the homunculus alternates between direct confrontations and dodging his attacks across the otherworldly expanse. At last, Handy brings him to bay, and over Gargamel’s protests uses the SmurfoMix to free Stolas. Storm then uses the Green Stone’s last fragment to trap Gargamel in a crystal. The Smurfs clean up the remainder of the wizard’s contamination, and soon are celebrating with their new friend Stolas.
