Synopsis[]
Tired of their life, Farmer's snails go on strike and join Wild to share his free and unconstrained life.
Summary[]
It is a normal morning in the village as Farmer's snails are rudely awoken by Farmer, who says there's grass to be eating before the early milking. The snails slowly walk to the grass, but one snail goes to the pen house. Farmer tries to stop it, but he trips on the snail slime and falls near the pen house, where the snail shows him the book of him and his snails, but Farmer declines this offer, saying these books are only for nighttime.
Just then, as Farmer and the snail make their way with the others, Farmer sees that the other snails are sleeping and the other snail goes back to sleep. Farmer takes a drastic measure: waking them up with Harmony's trumpet. Farmer thanks Harmony, who claims it's nice to wake up to music.
Farmer and his snails have now gone into the forest for grass when they see Wild Smurf sleeping, waking up, and eating a blueberry. Just then, a snail wants to eat the blueberry too, but just as Wild begins to give it one, Farmer immediately stops him, saying blueberries are bad for his snails and it makes their milk go sour.
Later, while the snails eat the grass, Wild comes up to Farmer, asking why he doesn't give his snails blueberries if they like them. Farmer retaliates by saying he needs to mind his own business. Wild says he is called Wild since he eats what he wants and sleeps when he wants. He is free and recommends to Farmer that the snails should be free as well. Farmer is annoyed and says his snails and himself life's a strict life - only for Farmer to be abandoned. Farmer is enraged by this and orders them to come back to him this minute. Wild suggests that the snails might want vacation. Farmer tells the snails to stay with Wild if they want, but they'll regret it.
Farmer angrily walks back to the pen, where Chef sees him and asks what's wrong with Farmer. Farmer tells him that the snails are gone, so no more milk. Chef worries about this, since he needs milk for half of the foods he creates, so Farmer tells him to make another recipe. This turns Chef into a panic, running around the village and telling the other Smurfs about there now being no milk, which captures the attention of all of them. As Farmer kicks around belongings in a fit of rage, Greedy and Hefty rush up to him and worry about the lack of milk, so Farmer tells them he needs to get his snails back right now.
Farmer tries everything he can to successfully pursue his snails. Among these attempts are sneaking up on the snails while they are playing with Wild. However, when he throws himself on a snail, it flings him into the bushes, which makes the other snails cheer. Later, Farmer attempts to take one via a plunger and driving on his tractor while it is unsuspecting, but the other snails save one another, causing the plunger to break and Farmer is sent zooming away. Later, Wild and the snails play red light, green light, which ends with Farmer falling down after trying to get on a snail. The snails kick Farmer out of the forest.
Farmer is sent flying all the way back to the village, where Papa Smurf tells him he has to negotiate instead of using brute force. Farmer is upset by this and says he's been raising his snails since they were toddlers, but his way of raising them is much stricter, including forcing them to eat, milking them, forcefully brushing their teeth, and cleaning them. Papa Smurf hears this and recommends for them to have a little fun, which Brainy explains as happy enjoyment. Farmer is stumped until Papa Smurf clarifies that he can offer a couple of improvements. Farmer decides to give this a try.
While the snails have fun with Wild making noise sounds, Farmer arrives and tells them he is going to negotiate. The snails let him explain that he understands that they want a better life. However, this "better" life is almost no different from their previous life, making the snails say no. Farmer is outraged by this and decides to leave. Brainy tries to explain the negotiations but ends up getting kicked away.
Later, Wild plays a song for the snails about sleeping. Wild tells them he is going to sleep now, but he slips on snail slime in his log. This annoys him and he covers it with a leaf. Just then, a snail eats and breaks his guitar, which upsets Wild since the guitar is fragile. The snails then begin creating mischief around, not letting Wild pass to get to his chewed-up bed and dragging him to the fireplace in the log to ask for food.
Meanwhile, Farmer sits and looks at his old photos with regret. Papa Smurf walks to the pen, asking Farmer if he has actually told the snails he's missed them. Farmer realizes this and with support from a couple of other Smurfs, rushes to get them back.
Elsewhere, Wild is having trouble keeping the snails at one place; some of them are attempting to eat Wild's friend bugs while others almost eat things that are bad for them. One of the snails that's climbing on rocks, he tells to get down. The snail topples down in its shell, but suddenly, this wakes up a nearby snake. The snake eats the snail, which terrifies the others and Wild orders the snake to spit it out, but he is knocked out while the snails cower in fear. They end up getting eaten while Wild lays on the ground, defeated. Farmer arrives just in time to witness the snake and takes it on himself. Farmer tells the snails to gather and form a pyramid, a ball, a cube, and a hammer in the snake's mouth. It shrieks in terror and spits out the snails. The snails combine to form a hammer and it hits the snake, leaving it unconscious.
Farmer reconciles with the snails, but Wild signs his duty as caretaker off and he's afraid of what they want and don't. He runs off to sleep while Farmer hugs and cuddles with his snails.
Later, Farmer tells the snails the long-awaited story they wanted to read. When he finishes, he kisses them good night and tells them they will eat juicy blueberries first thing in the morning. Later, Farmer falls asleep with the snails.
Trivia[]
- Harmony is voiced by Fanny Bloc in the French dub rather than Kaycie Chase. It is likely that Chase was unavailable for the episode, as Baby's crying was also done by a different actress.
- The scene where Farmer’s snail flings him off of its back is similar to Nibbles the snail flinging Chef in "The Round Up".
- When Farmer gets up after being flung back to the village, his hat briefly moves upward, revealing that he is bald.
- This is the second episode in the 2021 series in which a Smurf is seen bald, with the first being Dreamer in "Knight Smurfalot".
- The music that Wild uses his mouth to play was previously played in "Unsmurfable Smile".
- The scene where Brainy is kicked away by Farmer is reused footage from "Diaper Daddy". However, the Smurf who was being thrown in that episode was Dimwitty.
- Wild is seen with a red guitar, something that Blossom was seen with in "Blossom Goes Wild!". It is possible that she gave it to him or left it back from the events of that episode.
