The Smurfs ask Timber for help when their dam is destroyed.
Plot Summary[]
The story starts off with Gargamel making a potion to create a storm and get rid of the Smurfs. It works as the nighttime sky changes from clear to rainy. Meanwhile at the Smurf Village, the dam breaks and water is flooding out and Gargamel’s roof gets destroyed.
The next day, the Smurfs discover their village is ruined and their houses are destroyed. Hefty informs the other Smurfs that a tree fell down and smashed a hole in the dam. Handy also has bad news because the lumber was carried away in the river so he can’t repair the dam. Papa Smurf tells them that everything is fine because he sent Timber to cut down more trees. Brainy and Hefty have their opinions on the matter by saying not so nice things about Timber. Papa Smurf suggests they give Timber a hand, so he sends some Smurfs to help him.
In the forest, Timber is cutting down a tree as well as talking to it. He gets very upset to have the tree cut down to the extent where he even sheds a tear. He is making breakfast, where the other Smurfs join him. He eats a large number of pancakes in one bite. The other Smurfs are amazed by it and follow him into the forest. Hefty asks Timber about certain trees in the forest to cut down, but he says one is too young and the other is too old. He finds the “perfect” one which has Hefty baffled.
Back at the village, the Smurfs are trying their best to repair the dam. Handy is having a difficult time hitting the nails with his hammer because of the flowing water.
Meanwhile, Brainy and Clumsy are having trouble cutting down the tree. Hefty and Greedy roll the logs, almost squishing Brainy, and Smurfette is worried about the other Smurfs in the Village. Timber is cutting down a tree, but the tree is about to fall on him. Smurfette tries to warn him and Timber commands the tree to fall the other way and so it did, leaving Papa Smurf amazed by this. The Smurfs are ready to go back to the village, but Timber chooses to wait because he is planting saplings to grow more trees, saying it's the “Law of the lumberjack”. The Smurfs are complaining about Timber, because the village needs the lumber urgently and he’s taking his time planting the saplings. Just then, Gargamel appears and tries to capture the Smurfs. Timber decides to cut the rope that is keeping the logs in place. The logs roll towards Gargamel, freeing the Smurfs. The logs roll towards the river and so the Smurfs try and save them. They ride the logs down the river. As Smurfette is cheering for Timber for saving the day, Brainy and Hefty says it’s Timber’s fault that they were in this mess. Gargamel appears again and the Smurfs jump to a different log as Timber stays. Timber starts running on the wood, causing Gargamel and Azrael to fall in the river. The Smurfs enter rocky and dangerous waters. Timber enjoys it but the other Smurfs almost drown. Gargamel appears for a third time, but Timber gets rid of him by pushing his log towards a different path, leading towards a waterfall.
Later, Handy announces that the dam is finished being repaired. Hefty says to Timber that he’s had him figured out all wrong and gives Timber a handshake to represent their new friendship. Timber is about to return to the forest, but Greedy and Smurfette inform him about a banquet in his honor for saving them from Gargamel. Timber sheds a tear and gives Brainy a pat on the back, causing Brainy to stumble over and fall.
