A tree stump monster came to life through Mother Nature's lightning in the cartoon show episode "Monster Smurfs" on the day of Spook-A-Smurf Eve. He hid himself among the Smurfs who were also changed into monsters by Brainy through using Papa Smurf's magic dust and joined their Spook-A-Smurf Eve celebration, falling in love with Smurfette, who assumed that he was a Smurf transformed into a monster. However, when Papa Smurf changed all his little Smurfs back into their original forms, the tree stump monster was revealed to be a real monster and ran off into the forest carrying Smurfette. But the tree stump monster was more afraid of Smurfette as he hid himself from her on a high ledge, until the real Azrael came along to threaten her life, which was when he jumped down to scare the cat away. The Smurfs found Smurfette in the forest with the tree stump monster, whom Smurfette said didn't want to be a monster, and took them both back to the Smurf Village where Mother Nature used her lightning to transform the tree stump monster into a flourishing tree with a wide smile (plus more facial features) for the Smurfs to take care of.
