Summary[]

Waffle Crumbs on Hefty (Waffle Wednesday)

It's Waffle Wednesday, and the Smurfs are watching Chef preparing waffles for them. He ends and starts throwing waffles to others, starting with Greedy, who's hungry as always. Then, he gives one to Brainy, who starts rating it, but Greedy quickly takes it and eats it. Meanwhile, Chef asks Hefty for his opinion, but he notices that Hefty's missing along with Handy. Just then, while Greedy plans to eat their waffles, they come from behind one house talking about some very delicious waffles. Chef jumps to then and wants to know more about those waffles and they try to convince him that they weren't saying anything about waffles, but then Handy mentions Lily's waffles, saying that they're really delicious. Chef says that they're waffle traders, mentioning his loyal waffle fans, but only Greedy's still with them, eating others' waffles.

Chefs Never Tell Their Secrets (Waffle Wednesday)

You don't understand Brainy. Chefs never tell their biggest secrets!

Lily is happily giving waffles to other Smurfs while Chef is watching her through the newspapers. He's very upset that his waffles aren't the best anymore, so he marks Lily as a witch. He continues with watching when Brainy shows up in front of him. Brainy advises him that he can just ask her what's she giving into her waffles, but Chef insists with his witch theory, telling Brainy that he can't just ask her because chefs never reveal their secret ingredients, and he goes to make a plan to steal her recipe.

Tree Hungry (Waffle Wednesday)

And one for you too, Tree Smurf.

Later, Chef is at the edge of a workshop and asks Dimwitty for a telescope and first gets a carrot from him. Chef watches Lily as Handy gives her a new truck to manage her new waffle business. Hefty and Handy come for more waffles from Lily in her new truck. He thinks that her secrets are in her charms and plans to get closer. When Hefty goes away from her truck, Chef comes disguised as a tree and asks for a waffle. When he gets it, he doesn't know what's in it, so he continues with planning.

At night, Chef gets Greedy, Dimwitty, Clumsy, and Jokey together and tells them that they'll break into Lily's truck. He offers everyone something in exchange for their help in his plan and explains the plan:

  1. Chef pushes Greedy in barrel into Brainy's smurfway and Greedy shuts Brainy into the barrel and takes his place.
  2. Greedy signs Clumsy, who whistles to sign Jokey, who releases Farmer's racing snails.
  3. Jokey opens the door with his present and Chef breaks in.
Chef's Plan (Waffle Wednesday)

Jokey thinks that it's very complicated when Dimwitty asks what's the plan.

They get into action, but first Greedy's barrel changes its way by the stone on the way. Clumsy tries to whistle when seeing Greedy in the barrel, but he doesn't succeed and throws the whistle into Jokey, who accidentally opens the snails that come to him and block his way. Jokey's present lands on Brainy and explodes and their plan is ruined. Greedy then tells Chef that the truck was already open. When Chef opens the batter, he tastes it and believes she is cheating to make better waffles than him. As he closes the door, he reveals that he put his special ingredient in her batter and laughs evilly. Jokey then asks the other Smurfs that Chef is starting to creep them out, to which they agree.

The War of Waffles

Chef goes mad

In the morning, Hefty notices that the "nooks and crannies" in Lily's waffles are gone. Lily tells him that the waffles wouldn't rise, so she decides to call them pancakes. Hefty then tells the other Smurfs that it's Pancake Friday and all of the Smurfs go up to the truck to get some pancakes, which angers Chef and he runs to the truck and starts driving it into the forest. Hefty, Clumsy, Dimwitty, Jokey, and Greedy follow. As Lily asks what he's doing, Chef replies with "Something I should've done a long time ago!". As they are in the forest, Chef turns the truck over as there is a bunny in the road. Lily falls off the truck and onto the bunny. Chef continues to drive, but he notices a cliff and is almost about to fall. The Smurfs that followed Chef and Lily grab some rope and struggle to pull Chef back up, but Chef has the batter in his head. Lily comes back and tells Chef that she used his recipe. As Chef holds onto the batter, she says they can make some more batter together. Chef ends up dropping the batter and he is successfully pulled up by them. Hefty, Greedy, and Jokey are lying on the floor while Clumsy and Dimwitty cheer.

Chef and Lily start a brand new food-making friendship.

Back in the village, all of the Smurfs are getting waffles from both Chef and Lily. Chef then asks Lily why the Smurfs liked her waffles more than his, but she tells him that she put the waffles in a heart shape. Chef throws his waffle away and takes Lily's heart waffle instead, and he smiles.

Trivia[]

  • The newspaper Chef cuts a hole in to spy on Lily has a picture of Supersmurf, who was Scaredy's superhero persona in "My Smurf the Hero".
  • The place Chef watches Lily in the truck with binoculars is not Handy's workshop as it is not the blue color scheme, but an orange workshop.
  • The scene where the camera is temporarily blocked (as Lily is getting onto her truck that Chef was driving) to help with a transition is an old film trick. Most notably, Alfred Hitchcock used it in his film, Rope.
  • In exchange for Clumsy’s help, Chef offers him a fork with a cork on the end so he can’t poke out his eye. This is similar to Steve Martin’s character in My Blue Heaven.
  • The title is likely a play-off of the phrase "Taco Tuesday".
  • The pan of the village repeats footage from "The Makeover".

Goofs[]

  • When Handy shows Lily the waffle truck he made, he says "Ta-da!" without opening his mouth.
