"You're Fired!" is the fifty-first episode of Season 1 of the CGI TV series, The Smurfs.

Characters[]

Synopsis[]

After yet another incident, Clumsy and Dimwitty leave the fire brigade. Smurfette takes their place and does a better job, so the two jealous Smurfs unite to pressure her to quit.

Summary[]

One morning, Clumsy is polishing the fire brigade truck while Dimwitty is eating a carrot. Clumsy asks Dimwitty for soap, but Dimwitty gives him a carrot. Clumsy tries to explain that the carrot is not soap, but he falls into the truck. At the same time, Dimwitty sees smoke and believes it's fire, so he jumps in the truck and starts driving it backwards. As they pass through various Smurfs, Clumsy gets up and they begin fighting over control for the truck. Eventually, they crash Chef's lunch for the Smurfs and making a complete mess all over the place and Chef's cakes to fly (one lands on a nose of one Smurf). Chef angrily explains that there was no fire and they ruined dinner.

Papa Smurf, Clumsy and Dimwitty

Dimwitty looks around as Papa Smurf angrily asks what is going on. Clumsy tells him it was Dimwitty's fault, while Dimwitty tells him it was his carrot's fault. Clumsy and Dimwitty begin fighting until Papa Smurf tells them fighting won't solve anything. Both Smurfs say they can't work with each other anymore and quit. Smurfette comes by and asks what happened and Papa Smurf says they just lost their fire brigade.

Later, Smurfette tries to ask both Dimwitty and Clumsy to make up and get their jobs back. Both of them say no, but Clumsy's blueberry hits his head and splats onto Dimwitty. Dimwitty mistakenly hits Baby Smurf (who was hitting a ball onto him) and Baby begins rolling down the bridge and is about to fall, but Smurfette runs and ends up saving him. The Smurfs are relieved and call Smurfette incredible. Papa Smurf tells her she'd be perfect for the fire brigade job. Smurfette declines, but Papa Smurf tells her they need a fire brigade. Smurfette then decides to take the job, leaving Clumsy jealous.

Smurfette has the truck. She passes by multiple Smurfs, gazing at her. She helps multiple Smurfs around the village - saving Poet from a can of paint a Smurf was about to spill, helping them achieve fire drills, teaching them to use fire extinguishers and saving Farmer's snail. Clumsy watches and bangs a stack of barrels in frustration, but a barrel hits him, and he ends up tripping and falls into the water.

Later, Clumsy comes across Dimwitty fishing. They are still mad at each other, so Clumsy tries to talk with Dimwitty. When Dimwitty finds a carrot, he eats it and agrees with Clumsy that they should get their jobs back.

Chef's Fire

First, they tell Smurfette that there's a bunny stuck in a big tree. Smurfette goes to the big tree and the two Smurfs say it was a false alarm, but Smurfette says she found her brooch, failing the plan. Then, in the night, they yell that there is a fire in the storage shed, it is still a false alarm, but Smurfette says she forgot her midnight run alarm, failing the plan again. Now, the two Smurfs are calling her for less important fires, like lights in houses or even Papa Smurf's potions.

In the morning, Clumsy and Dimwitty take multiple screws out of the fire truck, assuming Smurfette doesn't know how to fix the truck. They give her another false alarm about a fire from a far side of the village. She takes the truck, but it breaks down. That doesn't matter, however, as she ends up repairing it and runs to take care of it. Clumsy comes to the conclusion she's never going to quit. Smurfette comes back, telling them there was no fire. As they walk away, she now sees what they are trying to do. Smurfette tells Papa Smurf about the plan and jumps back into the truck.

In the night, Clumsy and Dimwitty are sitting on a bench, saying they're never getting their jobs back. Just then, Papa Smurf yells that his lab is on fire. The two Smurfs run to the lab, where Smurfette says the hose is "stuck" and goes to use a bucket of water. Clumsy and Dimwitty run inside instead of using the ladder, ruining the plan. They get in the lab, but Dimwitty trips over Clumsy. This ends up causing an outburst of potions and they try to save Smurfette. Smurfette tries to get them to leave, saying it's too dangerous, but they trip over her and are about to fall. Clumsy uses the ladder, swinging all three and they fall. Papa Smurf says they succeeded in the plan. Not only that, but they generate fireworks, and everyone is surprised and happy.

The next day, Papa Smurf gives Clumsy and Dimwitty the Smurf Medal of Valor for their bravery. Smurfette arrives and says they know the village is safe in their hands. Suddenly, they hear an explosion and a Smurf yell that there was an explosion at Jokey's house. Clumsy and Dimwitty dive into the truck and race away. Brainy asks if Jokey's house is the other way, and a Smurf says "Yup" as they all laugh.

Trivia[]

  • Most of the scene from the episode "Adventures In Smurfsitting" where Dimwitty and Clumsy cause the disaster in Chef's outside dinner is reused.
  • Chef calls Clumsy and Dimwitty "Good-for-nothings", just like "Adventures In Smurfsitting".
  • The footage where Clumsy and Dimwitty pass by various Smurfs with the truck from "Monkey See, Monkey Do" is reused. The difference is the clip is reversed, as if one looks closely, Handy is walking backwards.
  • The scene where Smurfette is about to save a can of paint from dropping on Poet is reused footage from "Smurf-Fu".
  • The scene where the Smurfs are summoned to the village bell reuses footage from "Diaper Daddy".
  • The brooch Smurfette saved from a nest looks extremely similar to the opposite amulet seen in "Clumsy Not Clumsy".
  • Various scenes use character movements from past episodes:
    • When Brainy and two other Smurfs run away from the driving truck in the beginning, they have the same poses as "Adventures In Smurfsitting", complete with Brainy hiding under the bench.
    • When Clumsy and Dimwitty start fighting, they fight the same way as Vanity and Tailor from "The Makeover".
    • Smurfette's preparation to fall in and drive the fire brigade truck is similar to how Clumsy and Dimwitty do it.
    • Clumsy and Dimwitty crashing into Papa Smurf's laboratory is similar to Papa Smurf doing it in "Where's Papa Smurf?".
